Ruf 3400 - 3600s

Does anybody know roughly how many of these are in the UK. Also what sort of money they now go for.

Just read the GT Purely Porsche road test of it.

All the best parts of a Boxster S magnified, and with even more power. I'd be foolish not too.[:)]

As rare as that from a rocking horse - I've never seen one.

Richard Knight has a 3.6 Roock but he resides in Barcelona.

JCB..

If there are any, they would be in low single figures.
With something so rare, the price would depend on what the owner wanted - I doubt there is a book price.

Hi
I can't help with the Ruf aspect, but if you are looking for a 'special' Boxster, I am aware of a Gemballa Boxster (450bhp!) that is coming up for sale very soon.
If you are interested, reply and I will put you in contact with the owner who lives locally (Guernsey, Channel Islands).
Cheers
Rob

Sean Breslin's wife has a 3400S, loves it. He has a Carerra GT etc etc

Sorry, I have never seen the car, Mrs doesn't often come to the track days, but Mr said she loved it.

Thanks All,

Asked my prefered dealer about them as well, he said a similar thing. "Take a look at the Gemballa". So I did.

Very nice.

However the money these things cost, you'd probably be able to get a 997?

Hi Simon
If you're interested, the Gemballa up for sale locally is a 2000 MY 'S' (I think) in arctic silver.
I think the chap is looking for mid 20K for it. As it is an island car, the mileage should be pretty low (most cars do about 4-6K miles per year).
It certainly is a bonkers performance car although does not have PSM so is a bit of a handful under acceleration in the wet (so I've heard). The local OPC are aware of the car and it has local FPSH.
Let me know if you are interested, although it is as far south as you could possibly get, and of course there is the matter of importing it to the UK and paying VAT if not already vat paid.
I am not related to the seller or making commission on the car in case you're wondering! - my day job is far to complex for that! It's just that he is wanting to sell and is an aquaintance of mine.
Hope this is of interest.

Cheers Rob,

For the moment I'm just thinking long term. I've only had this Boxster S for 2 month. I'll be changing in about 12 month or so.

Specialist Cars have said they can convert my S into a Gemballa GT, for an undisclosed amount.[;)]

Hi Simon
Well, you've got the best car on the planet to enjoy the summer with, so have fun!
The 450bhp Gemballa version is a bit bonkers anyway - if you convert yours, I hope you've got PSM!
Have loadsa fun in the sun whatever you do.

We recently took the boxter 3400s to hockenheim and it was a real blast. In a group consisting of 2 GT3 RS's and a CGT, the Boxter held its own with ease. In fact it was easier to drive at 160+ on the autbahn than a certain person's RS. Fantastic road car, really stable at speed, very comforatable, brilliant engine note with the Ruf exhaust and just great feel and communication from the car.

Ruf has taken a great car, if not one of the best you can buy for the money, and made it better, though this does not come cheap.

Last year we followed a 3600s at over 175mph on the autobahn, which was very impressive as the 3400s tends to hit a wall at about 162 even though there are revs left.

Personally not too keen on Gemballa, weird man, strange looking, gaudy machines. Biggest market is the middle east, therefore designed to suit.

This is but a dream around these parts. Anything over 85 and you spend soo much time looking in your mirrors, or at slip roads etc, there's just no fun.[&:]

On the Autobahn you'll spend sooo much time watching with one eye for the dipstick in the Opel Nova that pulls out in front of you at 75 when you are doing 150 while the other eye is on the mirror watching the Brabus Merc that has been planted one foot off your back bumper ever since you crossed the border!

That's what makes the autobahn so much fun, really keeps you on your toes, unlike the dreary braindead motorways and speed limits we have here.

Your description was prefect. One always has to be aware of the small car pulling out in front (still travelling at a good wack 100+ or so) while watching the Bahn stormer, behind, usually a BM or Merc. Best way to deal with them, seems to be to let them go, or get a move on yourself!! It can be really aggressive stuff but without the road rage we find over here.

Makes a real reflection on the people too.

Germans are fast, lively and agressive like their motorways.

Brits.............. well like our motorways......i shall say no more, not wanting to offend and being of the British variety myself.

So apart from being great on German autobahns the little Boxter is really at home on the British B road, especially in the summer, roof down listening to the exhaust rasp on each down change. It really soaks up the bumps and makes for quite the A - B weapon.

SPB is your little Boxster the one with a trick pearlescent paint job in this sort of colouring I've seen once or twice over the years on my local travels [;)]

It belongs to my mother. Suits her, she loves purple, so she has a three tone purple car. the paint job is fantastic, took a few goes to get it right, but the final product is brilliant. The subtleties are very well done also.

If you look close enough you'll see the callipers match the body colour they are adjacent to.

An all purple alcantara and leather interior, GT3 seats, schroth harnesses, and little teddy bears in the door pockets, uncermoniously buried when she is not looking. Don't need those furry little things flying about the cabin at high speed!

Great car, but without sounding too non PC, it really is a ladies car. Unsuprising as it was custom specced by a lady.

[8D] Yes the car is very girlie looking but obviously very manly when fired up ... It sure is an eye catching example though [;)]

I'm surprised to hear that of the 3400S.
Last month on a trip to the Ring I saw an indicated 170mph in my Boxster S with the roof up ( and a 155mph with the roof down ) at which point is does hit a brick wall.

You are allegedly able to get an indicated 180mph but you have to run it right up to the red line in 5th before changing into 6th to get enough momentum.
