1984? cookie cutters? oval dash? (and no engine pics)
A lot more "Non original" classic car's are being valued and sold at higher prices than say 5 years ago,
A modified 924S valued by PCGB at 35K is one example I know of !
Don't forget a lot people do and are buying car's purely because they like the look of them, and many have no idea of their true value
or the amount of profit the seller may be making, but the economy is so poor many people are sinking their cash into rolling nostalgic metal.
Sure the adverts write up and the images are not the best I've seen, more info and shots should be included.
It would seem it's been fitted with a 2.5S 16v engine and oval dash either by RUF UK? and it also has other reputable service history EG paragon etc.. unyet as unique as it may be it's got no reserve and the bids are not that high.

They also had a red 944 and a blue S2 for sale over the last couple of months, again both advertised on several occasions.
Cheers, Paul

Which is the web site of "RUF Automobile UK" in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Not "RUF Automobile Great Britain Ltd" in Weybridge, Surrey who are the people noted in the advert and whose website was "www.ruf.co.uk".

If you Read the Advert header & description properly, rather than picking & snarling at it,
"Porsche 944 RUF-Automobile History and Receipts"
"Full re-build with RUF Automobile - the worlds leading Porsche builder and manufacturer at a cost of £14k with all receipts"
As the above descriptions suggests it's been "serviced and modified" by the UK company as see on the photo of the receipts called RUF Automobile GB.
It's not a Bespoke car build from scratch in Germany, as it doesn't mention this does it ?
The work was done years ago by RUF AutoUk, this company as you've mentioned closed and the current UK RUF arm is now with new Directors, What's your point, Or isn't there one ?
If you (or anyone else) doesn't like this Genuine UK RUF modified car, no problem it's not for you!

If you choose to believe the two "RUF" companies are one and the same then that is your privilege.
On the evidence available, I choose to believe there is no connection between the "RUF" that looked at this car and the well known German Porsche builder. That has a material impact on the car we're discussing and it's potential value.
On a separate note, I would appreciate you keeping the discussion "civil" and "polite"

This isn't a 'proper' RUF car in that sense (they didn't do a 944?) but presumably someone loved their 944S enough to pay RUF to customise it for them?
Yes Spot on, Genuine RUF car's start with VIN W09 and are not a Porsche, hence as you suggest it's not a proper RUF which the advert doesn't claim either, but rather it informs potential buyers that this car was modified and serviced by RUF UK which was many years ago and since this venture has closed. A Recent deal was resurrected with RUF and they operate again from the UK.
Both these companies were and are officially affiliated with the german company RUF, hence the Logo and registered trademark symbol on the paperwork for this 944 car.
It would seem some members thought it was a German built bespoke RUF car from new, hence various comments and some it would seem are suggesting it has nothing to do with RUF, but it does as clarified with RUF Uk this morning but it's in the capacity of a car that's been modified by the UK arm.
There are many car's out there which are labelled a RUF, but they are not a genuine RUF from new but a Porsche that have been modified by the RUF factory in Germany or the UK ventures, which is not the same thing.
