Rusty Sills and Hello

Well the passenger sill is pretty much finnished, just some tidying witha grinder and then some stone chip to keep it rust proof :)

Then our attention went to the drivers side.. the sill was in better shape, that was until I started poking at the flakey bit.. Oh well more reconstructive surgery and a few more hours yet to go.

Plan is to get it soild and through the MOT and then fit some turbo skirts to cover up the repair work. It will be solid but not so pretty [:(]

Oh and this was the previous owners idea of structural repairs :(

Some interesting bits of metal stuck in plac with no more nails, fiberglass, mesh, and mostly filler. Also the sills had plenty of botches in them too.. Ah well its all getting removed and repaired properly :)

Mmm wish the seller had been a little more honest when I bought it but hey. He did say it would need welding for an mot and it was priced to reflect this.. I knew the price was low so was expecting to do some work..

Turned into more than I wanted to do but hey! Live and learn :)

Destined for track days me thinks anyhow :)

I looked at a 1986 '44 for ÂŁ1500 with sills that were almost as bad as that. It had been patched badly over the sills and they blatently had filler on the outers. But boy that car was polished to Kingdom Come!

Well its starting to take shape and look more like it should again. A bit rough at the moment but will look better once is been ground down and smoothed out. At least its metal this time and not filler!

Next challenge is the drivers footwell [X(] Must stop poking holes in my car! Anyhow this is pretty much the end of it and should be nice and solid and won't give any grief at the MOT

Well done Craig [:)] As you say, the sills may not be pretty but at least its back on the road again, a just reward for all your hard work

Noo still quite a bit of wiring that needs sorting behind the dah.. The previous owners hack job of the radio wiring scares me so I need to return it to something safe with different coloured wires for each connection and [8|]

I may sneak a little blat on the old heads of the valleys road though :D
