S2 Misfire

ORIGINAL: pauljmcnulty
I believe that 4 stars mean you are now qualified to use the milkshake machine and staff the drive-thru window......[&:]
Fantastic! Thanks!

And your five means that you can let us know when we can go on a break, perhaps?

Oli.

This is now very strange, I still have a miss fire on number 4 however, the injector is working, the spark is working, the lead is working, ther compression is very good, it runs fine when it is cold, and at high revs, but not below 3k when it is warm. Anybody have any ideas?

thanks

At the risk of making a bad suggestion again, how about swapping the injectors, leads and plugs with another cylinder to see if you can isolate the faulty bit?

Oli.

I have changed the plugs around several times, and I have just put brand new plugs in, I have also changed injectors around, tried a different dizzy cap and a different lead all to no avail. I am sure it is going to be something simple but it is certainly proving diagnostically difficult.

Any thoughts no matter how odd I am willing to try try.

you need to be methodical JM
if you have swopped the spark plug, plug lead and injector from a working cylinder and there has been no improvement then it can only be a blockage or leak in the fuel supply rail to that cyl or faulty Hi tension supply to that cylinder from dist cap or something wrong with the cylinder like valves or head gasket leak
Try a compression check . Remove all plugs .remove fuel pump fuse remove rotar arm or dist cap so it cannot fire
Turn engine over with throttle wide open exactly 5x times each cylinder and record highest pressure results. If the problem cyl shows a slight loss of pressure say 5-10 psi its possibly valve leak more its likely to be head gasket
