S2 remote central locking

I've now found the alarm module. It is a Porsche factory alarm part number 928 618 260 00 and it is located piggyback style behind the main ECU in the passenger footwell. The wiring for the ultrasonic module which is in the boot is grafted into the OEM wiring that plugs into the main alarm module.
Gosh - I'd forgotten this, and you are quite right, there is an alarm box in the passenger footwell.

This is a journey of discovery for me too Oli!

I'm quite proud of myself because I have successfully diagnosed the fault as being the microswitch in the drivers door locking mechanism. I unplugged it from the door loom and found there were only 3 pins in the connector so I surmised that one was power, one was lock and one was unlock. So I tried a jumper between the one I assumed to be power and one of the other two pins and voila, both doors locked, alarm armed! And as if by magic, jumping onto the other pin unlocked both doors and disarmed the alarm.

So it's a relief that the expensive alarm/central locking control unit seems to be functioning properly but now I need to figure out if I can replace the microswitch or if it will be a whole replacement door handle. All good fun!
 
Not sure if you can get the microswitch on its own. I do know changing the whole handle will cause much swearing and scraping of knuckles! Also, adjust the throw to your liking while your in else you'll need to take it all apart again! I had this lovely experience when changing my odd non script handle to a scripted one! Fun fun.

I can't remember the way that the doorhandle microswitch works in relation to the alarm and the central locking module but I do recall that the system was a little arcane. I also know that the Porsche alarm is very, very basic compared with a modern alarm and the security it offers is probably pretty minimal. But it's certainly better than nothing. (I built a small interface between the Porsche alarm that was fitted to my S2 and an aftermarket alarm, which also controls the H&P immobiliser. It means that all three are controlled by a single remote key fob - which is great, but quite a lot more security than the car needs!)

I suspect that if you get the microswitch out then you may well be able to dismantle it and either clean it up to get it back to working order, or find that it's a standard microswitch in a housing which you can buy very cheaply from the likes of RS.

Well I got the microswitch off the door locking mechanism and I've checked it with it plugged into the door loom. It only works one way (unlock) so this confirms the fault. It has the part number 911 613 133 00 on it. I'm not sure if it is interchangable with the 964 613 134 00 part but I will give both to my man at my OPC tomorrow morning and see what he says.
