Its more than just "a car". Theres a serious amout of emotional attachment after that amount of time - Anybody that dosent feel an attachment to their car either has no interest or is a totally heartless plank.
I just cant grasp how you are feeling right now lad but all I can say is the pain will get better in time and at some stage you will get another to make more memories - Gone but never forgotton[]

I'd be very pissed off if my turbo burnt to the ground, but this is getting ridiculous.

1) He said they deal with those who chase them the most - they had a pile of work they couldn't get through in a day and rightly or wrongly those nice people who didn't chase them ended up on the bottom of the pile.
2) Never accept the first (or second) offer they give you as they will always make a low offer first and it is negotiable. For negotiation in your favour obtain as much documentation on others in similar condition recent sales etc. tricky when yours is one of the best but higher mileage than others. letters from the club etc. etc. Also not so easy when there are not so many around any more.
Good luck!

To add to what Tony has said, also if they say it's an uneconomical repair and want to write it off, get some quotes before allowing this to happen. IIRC my son has managed to save some of his customers from this by doing a quote that's less than the insurers value the car, after all, it's not a crash that may have made the vehicle too dangerous to drive.

At least you are okay !
Mine is fitted with a fire extinguisher may be updating to one of the new fang ones.
Locktons give me salvage rights which is well worth the little extra premium.

Ditto & ditto. Desperate for you mate. With regard to dealing with insurers remind them that an insurance contract is a "contract of utmost good faith" and therefor they are obliged to tell you everything. If they say they want to write the car off insist on knowing what the figures are to establish the tipping point. We had this with Peters car and we insisted we would pay the additional cost over the write off figure to have it repaired...it does regrettably sound like yours is beyond repair though if the heat has damaged the integrity of the shell.

FWIW I had a very good experience with insurers a couple of years ago who offered me more than my car was worth when it was written off in a motorway accident...all settled and towed away within a week. No doubt your S2 will be a harder one to value though. Hope it works out for you

Despite having an Agreed Value Classic policy we are still haggling as to the settlement figure but I'm hopeful I'll get more then their initial offer. In the meantime I've tentatively made up my mind to go a 'bit modern' and have tested a 3.4 Cayman S. Me like it very much and hopefully won't need constant tinkering to keep it tiptop like the 944 did
Now starts the offload of many 944 bits and bobs I'll no longer be needing, beginning with wheels sets:

Better be a Gen 2, or you'll need Hartech on speed dial...

I hope you get a decent outcome quickly so you can get on and enjoy your new acquisition.

That would be my choice as well.
There are enough about that they aren't stupid money any more. The only down side is, if they do have a gremlin, it is unlikely to be a cheap fix ... but then that is true of any modern car.
A Boxster with a cage and a hard top might be cheaper ;-)
