This may well be my last posting as I'm not sure I will ever own another 911 but greatly enjoyed the driving my 996 C2 for the last 3 years and reading the forums over the same period. Good job they build them strong as shown by my photo - survived after aquaplaning on massive flood on A40 recently and stopped abruptly when I hit a crash barrier and bridge - now recovering with 4 cracked vertebrae.

Enjoy your cars but just be careful in all this rain.

Happy driving.

Best wishes
Simon

Sorry to hear you're leaving Porsching. Looking at the photo, seems like you were very lucky. Hope you mend a bit quicker than your car. Still, you can always repair metal.
Good luck with the recovering.

Good grief Simon! I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

And you may not know it, but it was your car featured in the front PU change DIY in my book.

Crikey SImon !!

That looks pretty bad. Glad to see that you managed to walk away. Wishing you a speedy recovery

WOW.

Photo speaks a thousand words.

I know it doesn't seem it but you are one lucky man.

Look forward and good luck.

Regards

Richard.

Wishing you a speedy recovery at least the NHS is still there for you.they are closing 5 A&E depts in northwest London !

Thanks for the get well messages everyone, I'm recovering OK. Yes, the JR in Oxford where fantastic and looked after me brilliantly.

Get well soon and make a swift recovery.

I remember what a policeman said to me after a 2.5 tonne lorry hit my car [it was his fault], "Don't worry sir, your car can be replaced, you cannot."

So true.

Glad to see you safe after that one.

Hopefully your stay in the JR didnt last long enough to sample the food as its dreadful.......

Do use your insurance money to buy another well built 996.

Ohh and where is this spot on the A40 as I use it almost everyday...............

I was in there for 2 weeks so had plenty of chances to try and eat the food!! It was the first bridge on the dual carriageway after leaving Burford before the Witney junction - the police have asked the local council to investigate as it was so bad. Take care.

Wishing you a full recovery, not nice to see that type of thing and brings things into perspective. Main thing is you are ok.

Nasty, but good you are recovering OK. Do the physio exercises they give you!

I hit a pond on the A27 near Chichester at 11.30 at night in June on my way home from holiday, on my Honda Blackbird. In the dark, on a bike, not funny. Fortunately I was only doing 60 not the 180+ its capable of and I got away with it...Easily done though with the weather as it was then
