Popped out to fill the tank up this evening and the car didn't make it back; not sure if there was oil or leaves but off road excursion resulted and ended against a tree - front end is no more. Now for the derisory offer from the insurers[] and the pang of loss everyrime I go in the empty garage.

Sad news mate another car closer to extinctiom. Hope you are OK though. You can always get another Porsche.

Sorry to hear it, it's a sad fact that a few cars go this way every year. Hope you came out of it OK, they might not have as many electronic aids as modern cars but they are made from girders! [&o]

I hope you've got a Club valuation, if not e-mail me and I'll see if I can be any help with the insurers. I can't do as much as a proper valuation in advance of a claim, but a letter form me has helped Members before.

Thanks for all comments - bit of a bang to the head from the b-pillar. Now it's sunk in I am gutted as would put my paw up if down to over enthusiasm.

Paul - thanks for the offer and I'll PM the spec to you as bound to have a bit of push and shove over the comp. I'll definitely get another once feet under the desk at new job.

I feel for you as I had a lucky escape the other week. It's only metal at the end of the day and at least you are ok, that's the important bit.

so sorry to hear your news, lawsi, i really hope your well and you can also get another 944,little compensation i know! but at least you seem ok , yours regretfully jason p

Glad you are ok,you will find another car out there no problem.Best of luck with claim.

A damn shame to hear about your accident. I am glad that you came out unscathed which is what matters in the end.

I must resist vulture mode...

Glad to hear that you are okay, it could have been a lot worse if you were injured. We love our cars, but they are just that and can be replaced

Not a great start to Christmas. Sorry to hear it. Glad to hear you are OK.

Hope all goes well with the insurance claim.

Oli.

Sorry to hear mate, it's a terrible loss.

Best of luck with the insurance company, they can be cnuts at the best of times....

It reminds me of a saying we have in flying related to tailwheel aircraft: There are those that have groundlooped and those who are going to

I think it is the same with Porsche ownership, there are those who have spun and those who are going to....

Bad news mate, hope you get it sorted soon

Bad luck matey. Sometime it would be handy if these cars did have traction control - they can sometimes catch you out. I had a couple of close shaves in mine and I wasn't doing anything particularly daft in it at the time either. Oh well, at least you're OK.
