SC Register Day

Hi SCer's,

Pete (Bones) and I have been working on a number of SCentric days for this year and we have one of the first coming up next month.

On June 25th we have organised with the Swindon OPC an open day for the SC regiserter and any of the older cars (2.7s and 3.0).

The parts department (Nick Mulock) has kindly organised for three technicians to come in and put up to 12 cars on the ramps (two places are already booked) and go through an assement of each car. Two of the technicians where working with SC when they were first launched in the late 70's so have had plenty of experiance on the cars. Nick and his parts team will also be around to help track down those more difficult parts and answer questions on what services they can offer.

Some nibbles and goodies will be available, and we hope there will be a 959 and some 356 and some RS's about. This is the Dick Lovett OPC and he has a great collection of cars.

I have agreed that the event will run from 10-2.

Hopefully we can get a great turn out from the register if you would like the chance to have a good look under your car please drop me a line and I will book you a place otherwise just turn up on the day. As all ways the event is open to all members and any car. If you have'nt yet got your Porsche it will a good chance to have a look at what many consider the best introduction into 911 ownership.

Mark,
Count me in, sounds like a great day. I do not need the ramp bit because I have ready access to one.
See you there.
Regards
Ian

Sound like a great day!

I shall have to check with my finacial controller, as Gatwick to Swindon and back is circa 300miles, not sure if she will permit that amount of go-go juice for a 'Jolly'. Fingers crossed.

Hi

I have a 1982 911SC Sport Coupe and live in North Somerset. I would love to come along to Swindon on the 25th and take advantage of the OPC "ramp" offer. Hope there's still places available!

Thanks

Shag it, thought this was happening tomorrow for some reason

Have a wedding reception to go to next Saturday so don't think I will be able to make it guys, bloody downer that is [:(]

We have a slight hiccup regarding the visit on Saturday. Mark unfortuneately has tonsilitis and I can't cover him, however the days arrangements still stand, so turn up as arranged and I'll try and organise some cover.

Bones,
Is there anything that I can help with, I live just a few miles outside Swindon?

Ian

Thanks Ian everything is ok tomorrow, you'll be greeted by a Nick Mulcock, hope you have a good day and the weather isn't too stormy.

Hi All

I was delayed today due to work commitments this morning, therefore I did not arrive till early afternoon by which time you had all been and gone and I was faced with a beautiful but empty show [:(]

Sorry about that chaps!

I hope you all had a great time. [:D]

Hi All,
Shame not to see more people at Swindon, though Nick Mulcock was fairly philosophical about it citing Goodwood as one of the reasons for a low-ish turnout. Bones, Mark, I don't know if you routinely send a formal thank you but Nick was great, very attentive, helpful etc. He clearly knows his stuff and was on hand all of the time that I was there (11.00 to 12.40) to make sure that things went smoothly. They laid on a range of drinks, some great pastries and a nice range of sandwiches. The two technicians did a great job from what I saw and it was refreshing to see that there remains the ability within new car dealerships to deal with our old (but lovely) cars. They both were very knowledgeable and passed on some good tips and bits of advice. All in all a very useful and enjoyable visit. Nick also mentioned something about special labour/servicing for the older cars and given that they have the ability I may explore that one further, if only to see what the difference is between them and an independant.
Anyway, hats off to Porsche Centre Swindon and Nick Mulcock.

Ian

PS the light blue 2.8 RSR was an added treat.... beautiful

Hi

Agree with Ian. There were only two of us up on the ramps but that meant we got plenty of time with the chaps. Nick was excellent and most hospitable and there was a lovely 356 in the showroom and that RSR!

Only downside for me is the fact that my alternator needs a rebuild. I paid an auto electrician £75 recently to try and source the root of my electrical gremlins without success. The OPC chap identified the problem in 10 mins (and Ian tells me this will also solve my errant tacho!). This resulted in a slow drive back to avoid further battery boiling!

I was also told that I need a set of tyres. The recently opened Costco in Bristol has quoted me £297incl for a set of Michelin Pilot MXX3 N2 (205/55 ZR16x2 and 225/50 ZR16x2). Special offer ends this month. Sounds a good deal to me. Any thoughts?

Great to meet those of you who were there and again many thanks to Nick and his team.

Clive
