[FONT=verdana, geneva"]In my experience the best time for a motoring tour of Scotland is June - warm enough as it ever is up there, before the midges and out of the school holidays (avoiding half term).

Our favourite itinerary is Loch Lomond/Inverness/Ullapool/Skye/North Uist/Benbecula/South Uist/Oban, a comfortable five days through breathtaking scenery, including some of the southern islands of the Outer Hebrides. Our hotels and catering were unsurpassed, and the roads largely empty and challenging. When booking the only sizeable hotel in Lochboisdale on South Uist, I discovered that the new owners had been recent neighbours of mine in the Midlands, living less than three miles from us. Their welcome at the Lochboisdale Hotel (below) was very special.

Unfortunately the dates above are the only ones that Iain is available - and as he is our guide and liason with the locals [;)], we need to accomodate him.

Edit:
Looks great Brian [:)]

Iain Cameron has kindly offered to organise another Hoon in the Highlands - otherwise known as a Boxster Register Tour of Scotland.

Options are mid May ( before midge season), or end of August/Early Sept (when we just get the really hardy tough midges that have survived 'till then [;)])

Over to you [:)]

Where are we at with the poll, Mark? Looks like September is the best option so far.
Just thought it best to keep this topic up the list a bit otherwise it will be forgotten about. I hope all of the people that were on the trip in September '06 can make it in 2007. What a great group of people they turned out to be (seems to be true of all Porsche owners).

Hi Guys & Girls

Shaun and I would love to join you for the 2007 event, we are off to France the end April in the Boxster, so I am sure the car would love another trip to Scotland.

Put us down for which ever date is decided. [;)]

Take care.

Trip Report in January's PP (which hit my doormat today!)

A few apologies due...

I got credited with the article, but it was actually written by Claire.
And the photo's were not credited (implying they were mine) but in fact they were also contributed by Carl and Tom.
A correction will go into next months Boxster column.

Just got my copy of PP and the photos are credited to Tom and myself - no apologies necessary Mark, especially since you and Claire did all the hard work.

For the last two years we've taken agroup of 7/8 944's (and a 911) up to do what has become known as the '944 scottish tour. On each occasion we hired a large private house / hotel for our exclusive use and used this as a base for our daily drives out.

We usually manage to get nearly a couple of thousand miles of hard driving around the highlands, but split in to 2/3 car groups to persue different agenda's (hard driving / sight seeing / distillary trips). Both year's we went late May, when the roads were at their peak but traffic was low. A trade off between weather and midges [:D]

There are extensive photo-galleries of the tours showing how good the roads and scenary are on my website.

I also went to see the Scottish PCGB region meet near Glasgow and managed to get some free drinks - made the whole trip worthwhile [:D] [:D]

How did you get Jeremy Clarkson to come :)

Only if you lot remember to pay your food bill this time [;)]

Did I boob??

I don't know who it was, but suddenly Claire and I were on our own as eveyone had left, and the waitress came over with the bill for "all your friends who didn't pay for thier meals"

Yike! []

Thought we were going to have a very expensive night at the inn...[:(]

But in the end she said she remembered who they were and she'd catch them next time.

If she didn't collar you then it wasn't you! [:D]

It's funny now...[;)]

Oh Dear...Wasn't me....I paid up front for dinner for Greig and me (and I THINK John H) . I can imagine how embarrasing it would have been for you and Claire. [:)]
