Seems a bit pricey . . . . . ?

76k miles, non standard exhaust (and bumper section) "tired" looking drivers seat, non standard door trims. Makes the 911Virgin car look positively cheap at £55K with 42k miles !

And the wall needs repointing....tell me more....

I think it's referred to as "character" in estate agent speak Melv !

What do the cognoscenti think this car is worth in real terms ?

If that's pricey - which I agree, can somebody explain to me where Richard Meaden gets the figure of £100k for a RHD lightweight in his article in this months GTPorsche?

Tony

Hong Kong price £100K for 20 year old RHD. Something to do with classic car importing to China and tax!

More likely something to do with Mr Meaden talking prices up . . . . . . . ! ! !

Ollies RHD has been for sale for quite a long time at low 60s and that's a good car.

So why someone thinks or actually would spend 40k more on one is beyond me...

As usual some dealers have them on at realistic prices and some have on at more money than brains prices...there are always cars for both sets of people.

From what I gather the HK buyer who was buying them all up over last 2 years has had his fill.

I think things have moved on. The market for rhd lwt is limited but also discerning and prepared to pay top dollar for the right car (and that's not just HK buyers). Equally, if the car isn't spot on it won't make big numbers. That's why some of the stuff currently for sale isn't shifting.

Just my thoughts!!!

There will always be big money paid for exceptional cars - the implication was that £100k was the going rate for a car such as the author owns - and it seems reasonable to assume that's the price to buy not an advertised price. Now it may be that the cars sold recently aren't that exceptional but as Jason says there are good cars not selling at significantly less than that.
So is the magazine trying to talk up prices or are there cars being sold privately getting higher prices?

Tony

A magazine writer talking up the value of his own possessions? How could you be so cynical Tony![;)]

I'll have Ollies car and 40k worth of tyres, track days and European driving holidays then...

Don't think he would have been talking about his own car as it's LHD but I haven't read the article so can't comment any further. [8|]

Good point Jason!

I don't think he was talking up the price of his own car, the figure was in a side panel giving general details of the RS. I just wonder where the figure came from

Tony

Probably SCoM considering who provides most of the cars for the magazine. I had a look at Meaden's car when it was for sale at GT Classics 5-6 years ago. That car is certainly not worth anywhere near £100k. As you say, the write up states £100k for rhd lwt, which I would continue to argue is now the going rate for an excellent, original lwt .....

Damen how many and which ones have sold for 100k recently then (and not to the one HK buyer)??

Can't remember even seeing many for sale nevermind them selling at 100k...?

Just curious...

I do know of one car sold privately to a collector; the car was standard, maritime blue and had covered less than 20k miles, which made 6 figures earlier this year.

Also, I wonder whether the midnight blue 2,000 miles rhd lwt made the £120k it was on for?
