The Howells family rave about the Dunlops as do the 968 boys. Tbh the speed they go around corners when I'm on track with them I'd be seriously considering....

Albeit a 968, cannot recommend the Dunlops highly enough. R888's go off too fast (on my e30 race car after about 4 short laps!), Michelins more for sprint racing and IMHO not for prolonged periods on track (full day on track in warm weather). Wear rate on the Dunlops is very good. They come at a price though, cost me £550 for a pair of 255 rears mid last year. (DZ02's were awful though, current DZ03's very good). Need to determine your use, part warns of any type mught be prudent. To spent c£1k on track tyres you need to be using them regularly!
Might be worthwhilst posting a wanted ad also - Michelins might be available from the championship guys (255 rears - can you fit 225 fronts?)

All good. I only use the car for trackdays, so short 15mins sessions, plus I dont drive it as hard as racing, tyres havent gone off yet. So fine for me for now. To be honest if you intend to have them on the car for anything like 12months (as mine) they'll go hard anyway. Racers will put fresh tyres on at the start of each season. I'm running mine until they need new (mid this year I hope!)

As Melv implies , there's no big case to go away from Michelins , they are more expensive than the others but are hard to beat on grounds of grip and overall performance.
They are too expensive for me though!! I used to use Dunlop D01J s which were brilliant , now not available in appropiate size replaced by first D02G and now something else ?D03Z ? .....which apparently work well.
I currently use Toyo R888 , as do many other people , so its almost a 'trackday control tyre' .
The 225 size will still work under front arches.

To be fair it was Big Dave and Graeme H who I saw at the RS day with them last time.
I think I saw you in my rear mirror, but you were too far back to be sure.

Its not just the toyos, its all of them. I guess the point is if they are going to sit on the car for 12months or more, then relative merits of heat cycles and going off (very important if you race and need the extra time), become irrelevant as you will be running around on last seasons tyres. I bought mine in March last year, they are still on the car.ORIGINAL: MichM3
so if understand well, the toyo's go hard with the time... imagine I keep the tires 3 years, they will grow rubbish

I used yoko 48s on the race car, and we always replace tyres at the start of the year, as they had gone hard and werent competitive. Not so important on a track car, hence relative grip levels of a new tyre for the NGT wasnt a concern - as its not going to matter as its old rubber.
