My wife and I live in Holbrook, near Belper.

For when I return to Porsche ownership, soon, hopefully, can anyone recommend a servicing agent in the Derby area?

Thanks, regards
David

Im in Derby and take mine to PCT in COventry. Wouldnt trust anyone else with it.
Theres an OPC in Nottingham but .......
Guy who bought my Cayenne said there is a more local sports car place that "specialise" in Porsche but not sure who or where they are.
PCT at least stamp the book with a stamp that says PCT Porsche Specialist which looks better than "Joe Bloggs under the arches garage".

For older Porsches, Kirkman Motors specialise in them plus other sports cars. Their head guy, Simon, worked for Monarch. he actually PDI'd and serviced it when new. They also have some 'breakers' for those hard to get parts. I've used them for a few years and always had excellent service. They are at Cavendish Bridge, Shardlow.

Zentrum in Cotgrave Nottingham have looked after my 993 for the last 4 years. Would highly recommend them.

for the cars your looking at buying (going by your signature) then i would highly recommend using Zentrum in north Nottingham or PCT in north coventry.

To all of you: thanks for the advice/recommendations.

To Helen: apologies for not checking back on the forum before I posted. (Though your first link appears to have broken, the second one, I had seen, thanks again).

please don't appologise this forum isn't very user friendly.. the first link only works if you change the number of days on view. (above the first page of this section of the forum) to more than the standard lowest setting.

I use the OPC in Nottingham (I want to keep the FPSH on the car) and I can only report fantastic service and excellent work. My car is under extended warranty, so has to go to an OPC, but that said I believe they really try to do a good job and maintain their reputation.

Recommended!

Thanks Tony, I see you're nearby, we'll have to meet up for a pint sometime, perhaps at The Dead Poets, or The Holly Bush?

Regards
David

Kirkman also trade under the name of PH Sportscars & they serviced both my 944s at various times. I've always had good service from them & Simon in particular, is very knowledgeable. They often have cars for sale, including repaired CAT C or D cars so it is possible to get a good deal from them, as long as you are happy to have such a car. They break cars, too, so you can get good value spares.

Dave,

I've only just seen this whilst searching for another post!!!

Yes, let's meet up at either of those pubs. I'm assuming you have moved, it says you are in Pinner?

Regards

I live in Derbyshire and Porsche Leicester look after my car and i have to say they are fantastic and i highly recommend them!

....another vote for Porsche Leicester from me. £40 per hour for old girls like mine and terrific, friendly and good old fashioned great service from a state of the art OPC. Always assumed I'd use a specialist when I bought my '73 but tried Leicester on a recommendation and haven't looked back.

I use and recommend Sheffield, very pleasant people to deal with and just around the corner from Meadowhall where you can distract the other half with shopping while getting the car serviced on a Saturday morning, they'll even take you there or pick you up.

With my 968 I used PH Sportscars and still deal with them for family runabouts such as my MX5 and my son's Polo.

Before that I DIY'd.

I think Andrew means "Calverton" Nottingham for Zentrum (unless they've moved and not told me!) We use them a lot and they have always looked after us well. [:)]

I often think we are all happy until something goes wrong or the bill seems too steep. We drive expensive, technically complex machinery and Nottingham OPC have given me good service. The offer to re-gas the aircon at 6000 did irritate but when you see the damage a sheared IMS whatever causes then I feel happy to stay in the manufacturers fold. Integrity is perhaps the most important issue at the end of the day and I believe that OPC's and places like Zentrum realise this.

Likewise, I've found Sheffield OPC to be very helpful and I have several friends who use Kirkmans and Zentrum with satisfactory results. Surely your re-gas is a misprint?

I have also decided to stay in the fold with such an expensive, complex and car in fact when it was MOT'd last year it was also due for warranty renewal, it passed MOT but failed warranty checks on a loose steering rod joint different limits between safety check and warranty check so I said it must have had a poor surface finish when fitted in the factory to show such wear. £600 to change and then cost of warranty, they offered to do the job for free if I paid for the part and had the warranty. Ok £60 for the part. The job included a full alignment check and printout.

Certainly glad I kept the warranty as a few weeks later the chrono pack failed and took out all of the column operated electrics! Indicators, trip computer, wipers the lot! New chrono pack specially ordered from Stuttgart, recovery etc a few hundred quids worth. I think this year the warranty has paid for itself, it doesn't always of course but factor in breakdown cover if like me you like to drive in Europe and it seems pretty good value.
