short shift gear shifts.

I emailed JM about some other parts last week and he didnt get back to me. I guess he could be on holiday.....

Tom, I guess the price is shipping to one address but I would need to check.

If JM can do the kits for the same price it would be easy to order from him as he is in the UK.

DP work out jut less The £60 each with import Tax etc.

To import somthing from the USA. Car parts in particular.
IF you get caught for taxes itl cost you 4% of the total value of the item + 15% VAT + a handling fee set by Parcel force of about £10-£20....
Yes ive brought a few things into the UK from the other side of the pond Sometimes i get "caught" + sometimes it "slips through the net"...

Yes I had the same experiance with parts from the US before. When I worked out the price that was 20% added on for import and VAT.

Also Parcel force take the piss they claim about £10 for paying the import tax for you on top of the tax.

So what's your opinion on the Tial DPW ?.

TiAL is the one to have. It shares no parts with the original which means you still have your original to sell on (£80 to £100 last I heard) and you have no worries about it cracking. I haven't heard of a DPW based on a standard wastegate cracking yet, but it can only be a matter of time because the bit that quite commonly cracks on the standard one (the housing/body) is the bit that is reused. In fact I wonder if some are cracked but because of where it is located the owners haven't spotted it nor noticed a gradual drop in performance

Well compared to my standard wastegate that wasn't holding full boost its loads better. Had a small problem with my 1st wastegate that has now been set back to Tial to find out what went wrong. In the end Promax fitted a 2nd one for me and set it up. My car is an early car with the small turbo, but Andy did comment that it's now holding 0.75Bar to the red line in 4th. All I can say is the car comes on at about 3.5k and pulls very strong to the red line, in fact it feels like the engine could do with a few hundred more RPM's to make use of the strong boost. Looking forward to some better weather so I can fit my other chips and turn the boost up a bit.

I think Fen has covered all the reasons why I picked the Tial unit.

A couple of things to think about, if you have a single part link pipe its loads of work to fit a Tial. Also it is very tight between the torque tube and body of the car, you have to remove the support bracket that the original wastegate hangs off so all the weight of the wastegate is on the exhaust.

US/Jon ... if there is not much money in it, I'd be going with the UK supplier. More of a known quantity, less fussing around with posting them out to individual addresses.

And, should anything go wrong, much easier to send the duff bit back and get a new one.

What are the UK options?

Oli.

Glad to hear your turbo is running nicely homesa. Whats the turbo like off boost compared to the lux? I guess theres not a lot of difference in the engine except for the compression ratio (turbo aside).

I use the bracket - IIRC I had to reverse it and bend it but I got it to privide support - lots of people don't though without issue,
