Should I be worried?

Er, white is the new black? Definitely faster than cobalt blue, especially on a 997 turbo! OP, am sure you could p/ex a Corsa but you won't be able to negotiate the price at 911V on a car that's not even in stock yet. I honestly would be prepared to buy that car without seeing it but appreciate what you say about spec and age. Good luck hunting for "the right one" anyway - try a Boxster - does everything a Cayman can plus you can put the roof down when it's sunny!

Interesting to note Kevan that, today, AutoTrader have 256 Caymans for sale of which 64 are Black and 55 are Silver, followed by Grey (41), Blue (27), Red and White (25), Yellow (6) with Green and Orange following up the rear at 1 each. Unlisted (11). Not particularly scientific I know, but statistically relevant surely. Jeff
 
Colour is simply down to personal taste, silver & black being the two most popular colours in all makes of cars, well nearly all. Getting back to my original post I checked out the service record and it was serviced at 21000 miles at cridfords Porsche in Surry I phoned them and they confirmed that it was acctually sold by them in July 2011 Had a full srcice with them in June 2011. plugs, fluids, oil not due till June 2013 or 20,000 They thought 5 owners was not that unusual and although they would not tell me more (data protection) A 57 plate advertisd with 28.000 on the clock for £17400 was extremly good, I forgot to mention its advertised at £17400 reckon hed take under 17. Its all good except its black, never mind.
 
The mix of colours which Jeff found as a ratio of those for sale does seem pretty typical of the quantities one the roads and whether the exterior colour is that important to you is down to choice, I've always chosen by the drive and the spec with colour being tolerable but almost always a light interior. A note on interiors, I once bought a Maroon 944turbo with black interior, my wife found it claustrophobic because it was jet black everywhere inside.
 
Well this post may be running out of steam but anyone would like to chip in about my original question feel free, I must say I am suprised no one really mentioned the price maybe it does not matter to Porsche owners [;)] but I am always after a bargain. Must be because I am close to Scotland. I would say the Cayman I am viewing Sunday it the highest spec you will find for the mileage & year. Anyone care to say different just let me know but I cant find one in the UK. The 56 plate car from 911virgin is nice no extras as such, naff alloys, and its a whopping 2 grand more and a whole year older, if I get the Black one for £16800. I have decided owners does not matter I have phoned 3 specialists and two dealers one being Newcastle and they all said these motors have high turnover, there toys to some and other realise there impractical. Last service was confirmed by Porsche specialist who sold it to it present owner 22 grand 13 months ago! Heck I could get a respray for 2 only kidding, Blacks smart, dogs bollocks as they would say, silver is nicer but just.
 
Ahhh forgot to ask, I am a single dad and will be having my 4 year old daughter ride with me, Seen the Porsche Booster seat look like a rip off if im honest and there very boring to look at, anyone got a particular one they would recomend, I will probably just buy a well known make.
 
You'll be fine. I have the T shirt for single Dad plus Porsche, albeit a few years back now. So long as the seatbelt is not garrotting your daughter any booster will be ok. As you say, the cash saving is significant for a younger car, if it checks out ok you could well grab yourself a bargain.
 
You need to fit the car seat preparation kit. This consists of a switch to allow you to disable the airbag when a child is in the passenger seat and also installs isofix anchor points in the seat. For a small child the air bag is not beneficial because of their height and greater potential to be thrown further forwards than an adult when using an adult seat belt with a child seat. If it goes off they will get a serious injury. Please go and read about it. I did some reasearch when I got my child seat, which told me that Porsche child seats are/were made by Britax. I got the Britax that looks exactly like the Porsche equivalent and it fitted perfectly. Sorry, I don't remember the Britax model name - has probably changed by now anyway. The child seat prep is about £300 fitted. It was a no brainer for me in terms of being worth it. Porsches have very good brakes and that's another plus point for getting isofix anchor points[;)]. Also, depending on the type of child seat, it might poke into your leather. I use square of thick polystyrene under the child seat to avoid that. You'll need to stick to standard seats or sports seats if you want to install a child seat, not the sports buckets seats. They're very rare anyway.
