Should I sell?

ORIGINAL: sawood12

better to let her go to someone else for that - i.e. Tom (Barks944), who proceeded to pull her apart!! (though I know he'll put her back together properly!)

You bet! She'll be bigger and better than ever I promise!

You have hit the nail right on the head as I am having the same thoughts ( and also live in Huntingdon!)
Last year I used the 944 right through and was fed up every freezing winter morning of spending 20 minutes getting warm, the rear screen and sunroof thawed and dripped all over the place, the car would overheat in the constant 7 mile queues to the Dartford tunnel!
I run a business and wanted an easy to drive, reliable, comfortable economical car which would carry samples, computer, briefcase, and not feel intimidated by huge trucks on the M25 so I am SORNing the 944 this winter and have just paid £750 for an 850 Volvo tdi Estate.
Its so easy to use and gives 45mpg and will probably fetch good money anyway if I should sell. Depreciation is negligible on the Volvo and I can store the 944 in a garage.
If I don't sound like a Porsche fan I really am - I have wanted a 944 for years and have now got one. I just think as a 50,000 mile a year driver they don't suit my day job, but I love it at the weekend!

You mentioned an alfa, well I have an alfa 156 1.9JTD thats been modified and suspension done and q2 diff the works and i do love it but, I have recently bought a porsche 944s as a project and to be honest once the porsche is running correctly, could be months :-( I see it as a no brainer, keep the porsche get rid of the alfa, whats the point of having a car like the porsche if it is not going to be driven.

I had a night out at the pub with my Petrolhead mates (One has a TVR Chimera, but has previously owned a 968, 993 & 996, the other has just bought a VX220 Turbo) and I drove over there in my newly smooth and quiet porker which cemented my decision to keep her. Next week I am going to Heathrow 3 times and the following week she has to transport me to Bristol so keep your eyes peeled for a pink 951!

Aaww I love a story with a happy ending !

I've had the same thoughts as the O.P but for different reasons. I live in a very high up part of Sheffield and it gets very icy up there in the winter months. I only live 7 miles from work and its an easy journey....except in snow! I'm thinking of SORN'ing the car and getting a winter hack (£500 Fiesta by the looks of it!!) but have concerns over not using the Porsche for a few months. Anybody got any tips for all that are thinking of taking the car of the road over winter?!

If it causes problems anywhere around M5 j16 let me know and I'll come and fetch you (and it!)

yes after a short trial seperation they found that they couldn't live apart.
'we want t be t'gether'[:D]

Let's not knock it. If I lost my S2 I'd be gutted.

Fat Albert, all the best for many more years together! (They get better the more you drive them, You won't regret it.)

Thanks guys, we are gamboling through the pretty flowers in the meadow again, the music soaring and the edges of the picture going all misty...(must fix the demister before winter...)

(Thanks for the offer David, hope I don't need to take it up! A few years ago I had my Clutch Release Bearing go on my old SAAB 9000 just before the M4 Junction, so I called and cancelled my meeting, turned onto the M4 and managed to drive the 160 miles back to the SAAB specialist near home without stopping!)

Tom, i sorn both of mine at winter time, but i do run them every couple of weeks around the block, if i get a "pull" i will be honest and suffer the consequences if any ?
Do not just park the car up and leave it, if you have electricity in your garage buy a draper battery conditioner and get that on the car to save you from killing the battery or remove it and condition it in the house.
Start the car and let it warm up drive it back and forward to pump the brakes, do not leave the car standing on the tyres in the same position as you will get flat spots on them.
Parking them and leaving them for months static is a "no no"

This is just the kind of thing that always gets me. I need to be able to drive home from a meeting of enthusiasts and think 'yes I'm driving the right car' not oh no why am I in a diesel!

Glad you are in love
