So far, I'm chuffed with it. It has a very different feel to the 996. Certainly not as much grunt as the Turbo, but this is somewhat offset by the wonderful engine sound in the cabin. Not as much traction either, as it lights up the rear wheels far more easily. I need to take it somewhere to explore the limits of the handling, but it has a much lighter, more 'chuckable' feel that the 996.

Very nice,

Whats the handling like? that wheel base looks shorter than the 996. I bet its quicker in the bends.

It looks a lot of fun.

Very good - looks very smart.

So, presumably, you already have a list of things for you/Tony to tinker with? :)

Richard - the wheelbase is actually longer than the 911, despite being about 4" shorter overall length. It handles very differently, and you can feel that the weight is further forward, and nicely balanced. It weighs the same as a C2, so about the same performance, but to me it feels quicker - perhaps it's just the sound.

Martin - absolutely no plans for any modifications (yet). Apart from a Bluetooth and iPod kit, maybe.

Richard has been busy already [;)]

De-Amber ? BOSE Mod ?

Enjoy some non-tinkering driving but I am sure you will get the 'itch' to fiddle [:)]

Richard,

Congratulations on the new motor.

Did you trade the turbo in or sell it privately?

Keep up, Tiku - I sold the Turbo privately.

Mike - the book is being proof read and edited now, so hopefully will be on the Sunday Times Bestseller list before Christmas.

Oh yes - I forgot about the programming mods already done, thanks to Nick. And the Bose mod - I just have to tap up Mrs H for an old polyester pillow. [;)]

De-amber, check.

Oh no! Here we go again........

Nice car Richard hope it lasts longer than my Viper Green Cayman S Sport ltd edition did. I knew in a few outings i had made a big mistake changing it for my 996
GT3 Mk1. dont get me wrong if its to be an everyday car theres no better probably. Very capable all round car.
But for me there was just no occasion when i drove mine as a weekend car
Hence back in the fold of a GT3 MK2 again very costly lesson indeed.
Good luck and hope you enjoy for a long time to come.

Spoke too soon. Just got an email from Peter Morgan. The book is now with the designer, but he is stacked up with work, and it will be March before it is published. I'm disappointed, to say the least, as I worked overtime to meet the manuscript date he gave me.

Call Pinky Lai, I'll bet he'll do it on his spare time. :)

And congrats on the new car, must be very different to the turbo.

Nice. Really nice. Not the book delay but the car.

An S with a manual gearbox. You can just see the purity or driving experience from the cabin.
