Side Lights & pop ups

Anyone tried replacing both the pop-up relay and the dim/dip unit? maybe these work in conjunction with eachother and by swapping them over will give you lights down on position 1. I've studied the wiring diagrams and cannot see any differences in the actual wiring so maybe these two units are the key. They should be pretty cheap from a breakers.

Had problems with my headlights for the last 2 weeks. Pop up OK but O/S only goes down three quarters of the way. Looks real stupid. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've had this happen on a couple cars. Could be the linkage binding but if you can turn the manual knob on top of the motor and make them close fully then that isn't the problem.

Inside the lifting motor is a little "race track" and electrical leaf spring contacts that tell the motor when to stop. Take the motor apart and clean up those contact points and you should be back in business. Clark's Garage has a description on how this works.

Make sure you mark the slpines where the motor coupling connects to the headlight lifting arm. You don't want to be monkeying around reindexing when you put things back together.
