Silver Rose

Good Catch! The Silver Rose was IFAIK a unique color (silver with a rose metallic sheen depending on the light, etc.) and interior (burgundy plaid) offered only on the 1988 Turbo S. Some go so far as to say the Silver Rose was the ONLY Turbo S (although it appears there were offered in black and "zermat" silver also). Not sure as to how many produced in that combo but certainly not common. Hope the algae only goes as far as the exterior and good luck with it...

P.S. While '88 was the ONLY year for the Turbo S the '89s were the same spec although the S was dropped from the model designation so its not quite a unicorn :)

Hi Guys

I was visiting a seminar and came across a 944 parked up in a deserted carpark looking like it has been left for years with green algae covering the paintwork,i posted a few notes to several houses nearby and by luck received a call stating that i could take away with an offer, having now looked at the car it has now transpired i have a silver rose, does anyone know about this model.

Hi, great find - we need pics! In it's "as found" state too :)

just wondering though......

......if you don't know about the model, how did you know it was a Silver Rose?

If it is, it's a very rare car! Bruce is almost right; the later cars were not the same spec but you could spec a car up with almost all the same options after the Turbo S limited edition run finished, but it would still never be a Turbo S :)

Nice find, deffo keep us up to date with pics. Save me subscribing to Ultimate 944 to follow their 951 barn find resto if nothing else[:D]

Around 10 years ago I got interested in buying a 944 turbo, back then an 88 turbo S was worth little more than the 89- version. Fast forward to today and investors/speculators have hyped up the S, though the money is in original unmodified cars..... ;) .

Pics please..... (including inside sills :) )

I wonder how rusty it is?

Could be a great project but hope you have deep pockets if it has been standing for years

Usually less as the colour / interior combo is a bit marmite though there are few late ones in alternate colour combos. I still don't see them as being worth much more than nay other late turbo, but then that might just be me! I did buy my bridge spoiler coupe rather than a baltic blue S as I preferred it at the time with its nicer interior and sunroof, given the choice between the 2 today I would probably do the same!

The only option I'd have liked from the S was the sunroof delete. It also seemed a bit odd the S didn't come with sports seats or supposedly forged conrods.

money my dear boy, money, plus Porsche tend to 'heavily overengineer' new models and then as the dust settles and with no signs of any weakness in their design look at ways of reducing costs, I think you'll find this is the same reason that the early N/A models also came with 'forged rods'

thank you all for the replies, the car is totally original and comes with a full documented history including the deposit paid and letters from the dealership including FAX updateS from Porsche germany on the build,

there is a complete box file with the car and history of the one owner who had the car for years, he was a local Doctor who purchased it from my local Porsche dealership.

it is a genuine silver rose with the unusual interior, maroon with check cloth.

Yes that is not miine,I downloaded that one to see what it should look like, now trying to send,
