Silverstone Classic Info (PCGB Annual event 2008)

The event was very well organised this year, plenty of marshalls to direct you to the Porsche club area. There was also clear designation of parking areas by model type , and a good layout. It took no time at all to get in or out of the event . Well done to the organisers (silverstone I suspect take most of the credit). It does leave me wondering why was Ragley such a disaster last year ? I really do think this type of combined event makes for a far better day , than badly arranged Porsche vehicles in a field somewhere , with very little else to see or do. It would have been a nice idea if the newly opened silverstone porsche driving experience , had been made as one of the member's benefits. Perhaps passenger rides in a new 997 for a nominal fee ? Maybe some ideas for next year ?

Agree, was a good display of models, particularly Boxsters, so well done!

A major reason for the easy park up of course, was the long queue of many different car clubs meant a drip feeding of Ps to be parked up. Instead of literally hundreds arriving at once, there was a nice steady stream. Of course, the layout and marshalling was better organised - thank you Paul and Mike (Sunday)!

I dunno, you tell them where to go, and set a straight tape up for them, and then they all park unevenly......[:D][:D][:D]

The event was very well organised this year, plenty of marshalls to direct you to the Porsche club area......

With the possible exception that the organisers sent us to a public car park near Club because we were sent a 'P' car park pass which was a long long way from the Porsche Club area. I tried arguing the toss with one of the marshalls but he was positively obstructive and refused to let us into the car club area. It was a bit galling therefore to find that there was at least one Boxster in the Club area that actually belonged to a non-member.

By way of compensation, I had a session at the Porsche Experience and it was one of the high points of the day. What a great facility and brilliantly organised. Shame you missed the announcement in Porsche Post. BB.
