Silverstone Experience event, 22nd May

Hi Paul,
I'd be happy to help out with some marshaling if you still need people.
I'll even wash all the dead flies off my car..., if you think excessive amounts of plating and roll cage are suitable for your display.

Cheeky question time ! Would I be able to use the Porsche experience center facilities, as a non-member? Or is that part for members only?
Believe it's only a bit more to go as a non-member.

Surprised that Porscheshop aren't planning to be there - they say they've not been invited!

Members ÂŁ10, non-members ÂŁ15 IIRC.

I'd be surprised if Porsche GB wanted any independants there, whether parts suppliers, servicing, aftermarket modifications or anyone else!

Silly me should have thought of that - no such restrictions at the polo field, but at a big Porsche showroom....

Seems my efforts to attend any event this year is cursed to failure at present. [&:]

Special thanks to Jonny (jonny944cs) for bringing the car to display; it caused a lot of interest from everyone from visitors to the centre staff.
Speaking of which, a big thank you to all at Silverstone and the Club staff. We might have a day out, or even volunteered to help, but they gave up their Sunday to go to work. Albeit not a bad job punting a Panamera around the low-friction track for hours! [

Thanks to all who came, I think everyone was agreed it was a pretty amazing deal for a tenner.
Agreed, I lost count of the number of staff. A fantastic venue.
It was great to meet everyone. Highlights for me in no particular order were:
- Back seat ride in a drifting Panamera
- Trying in vain to win the Batak competition
- Andy Prill's encyclopaedic tour of 5 million pounds worth of Classic racing Porsche's (all three of them [&:]). Apparently it took them 9 days to set the valve timing on Stirling Moss's RS61 4 cam engine... There was me thinking the 944 was a bit fiddly!
Along with others I managed to survive the Panamera trip and keep my breakfast down...what a great car. Won't be buying one just yet, I'm afraid...still tinkering with the 944!!
The highlights for me were:
- sliding around in the Panamera, the way the driver feathered it around on the throttle was great - it all seemed so calm and serene as well - not like the odd occasion when I've got the 944 sideways!
- seeing the look on Mr McNulty's face (and the tear in his eye?) as he saw his old car again.
The lowlight was:
- leading the BATAK competition for a good couple of hours, only to be pipped at the post (OK, soundly beaten, but it was still gutting to get overtaken quite late in the day)
Well done to everyone who helped organise this event, I'd definitely do it again.
