No 964 RS content, but I think people will be interested....

As most of you know my 964RS co-driver (Oliver) has a '65 2.0L race car, we've got it entered in the Spa Classic on the 26th May. The whole event looks like a great set of races check out http://www.spa-classic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=110%3Atous-les-plateaux&catid=35&Itemid=54&lang=en

We are racing in the 911 race (Spa Classic Jubilee) which has a pretty impressive grid of porsches.

I imagine that we are going to a little bit out paced (and that there will be a ltitle race at the back of the grid between the 7 early cars), whilst we watch the 70s cars head off into the distance. We think that in 30mins, we just get lapped by the leaders, but either way I think it will a great weekend.

I do plan to get photos to share.

We had the car out on Monday for a shake down, and its in fine fettle, so the only thing holding us back is the drivers.

[updated to add entry list for the 911 race, as I'd put the wrong link up, and again for slight missing "i".]

This could be quite a weekend!! Accomodation at www.aeaventures.com available if anybody fancies a trip out!!

Having driven the car in the rain at Silverstone, I'm not too worried if it does rain.....clearly would be nice if dry. Car ran well at HSCC / GT SCC race at silvestone this weekend, with Oliver bring it back 3rd in class. I dont think they were ever going to beat the TVR, and only beaten by one 911. More to the point car ran without issue. Now only 4 days until Spa!!!!

Have fun, looks like a great event!

Am just back from the PCF Days 2013. Very rainy at the moment in Belgium. Saw a genuine 911R...

You cant say that without giving us pictures!!! I'm sure it was lovely, I hope PCF went well. At least the track wont be green if it rains this weekend then. :)

Oh, and also two genuine SC/RSs... And a genuine 2.8 RSR...

All of these from the same collector... He also had on show a 2.7 RS, an ST and I am sure I am missing a couple...

Better than Essen!

It was great thanks. Lots of fun, well spaced sessions (to recover between) and fewer cars on track than in former editions--a trend now for a few years. And of course, passing everywhere and whenever.

How was the track action Phillipe?

Now we are back, I'll post some pics in a bit, but a little summary....

The event is truly a great one, whilst not as big as say sliverstone classic, it attracted some great cars, we saw 935s, 962s and many others in action - all very impressive. As you can see from the entry list above, our grid was pretty special too, racing with 3.0L RSRs and 2.7s and STs was brilliant, and most were driven as intended (2.50s for front running cars), so pretty pacey.

We had a great race within the 7 2.0l 1965 cars entered, and Oliver and both managed to come second in class. My race was dry and although I never challenged the leader, I had a good clean race, and set some respectable times. Seeing a gaggle of RSRs approaching in your rear view mirrors, is quite a sight. I battled with a poorly driven 3.0L car for a while, which made you feel like you had the best seat in the house. However, I did trash the tyres, which made my later laps a bit entertaining, I missed the exit of Eau Rouge and went over the top, which wasnt planned, and had some interesting moments in blanchimont, so I slowed down after that.

OJB got a wet race, and essentially had no grip in the tyres. Thankfully, he seemed to forget that, and he had more wet pace than dry pace, as a result he chased the class leader down, and although he finished 1.3 seconds behind him, it was quite a race. A very impressive drive in tricky conditions.

We thoroughly enjoyed it, I think I ticked a couple of boxes over weekend, and we learnt a few things about taking it seriously (i.e. always bring the best tyres available, not what you happen to have left from the last weekend).

Pics to follow.....But here is one of me (I think) in practice

You will have to be quick, they are getting attractive. What amazed me was how intense the driving experience is (at least on L crossplies). I did 30mins and was knackered. Plus my arms were like I had been karting, simply due to the amount of correction on the wheel required. It took a while before I could do the bend before blanchimont flat, as the car slid, and it felt a bit hairy (we were doing about 110mph at this point).

Also talking to people in the paddock driving thinks like 904s or 2L prototype cars, they all seemed to have a 2.0L 911 car for fun.
