I get 24 - 25 on my commute into London and when I go down to Devon to see the wifes family I get around 28. Oddly, when my wife does the same journey to Devon - she gets an average over 33. I think the 5 miles per gallon is a fair price to pay for having some fun!

Ok I'm going to throw the averages out a little here. While I get about 28mpg on a motorway trip at 80mph and about 20-22mpg around town in free flowing traffic, my commute into work is a different story. I have a 6 mile trip through stop start traffic. More stop than start and can easily take 45 minutes. Can often sit not moving for minutes at a time repeatedly on the way in. If I reset my trip computer at the beginning of the week and don't have a longer trip to balance it out then I can easily end up with 13 to 14mpg as my average for the week. My car is a 3.4l tiptronic.

Who cares...[] Isn't it part of the terms of ownership that you get the most of out these cars by getting as few mpg as possible? Seriously though, my wife uses the car for a short commute & the mpg is usually below 20 but by the end of the weekend after a bit of "spirited" driving its back up to 23-24. Fantastic - drive quicker & save the planet!!
