So, What do YOU Think

ORIGINAL: PhilRS

Surely, people must prefer LHD RSs.
Isn't the RHD version of the car an after-thought?
Really... power steering, strangely offset pedals...
Isn't the agreed hierarchy:
1. LHD RS
3. RHD RS and RS America? [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

Just like Brian, you are a "very naughty boy!"

On a serious note, yes the pedals are offset as is the rest of the driving position but it is, to a lesser extent, on a LHD car. That was something that suprised me when I sat in a LHD 964 RS for the first time. I expected, following all the posts and hype, for the LHD car to have the most perfect driving position I had ever experienced. In fact, on both sides, the position is seriously flawed.

Yes, and the deep bucket seats do not help... The offset is pretty bad in air-cooled 911s, but the experience of the offset is worsened with racing seats.

Personally I preferred RHD as it's easier to overtake and my wife felt too exposed sitting in the passenger seat of a LHD car. LHD is fine for the track, but a pain for road use, especially on the roads we have down here in Devon.

Missed this post originally and have a couple of comments.
Some years ago I had some driving instruction by a well known and respected instructor. After driving my car he said position was perfect (LHD). I have driven a few RHD and do not like the position of the pedals.
I recently drove one with Motec it was awfull and not as quick as my relatively standard car( chip and decat)
Power steering, more to go wrong and on a previous 964 Cab I owned, power steering pump seal developed a leak.Common fault on 964.
Some of the later 964rs come with a 92 liter tank which is great when touring in Europe, not available on RHD.
JZ Machtec look after my car and many other RS,s and I find them professional, friendly and would recomend them for pre purchase inspection.

Sorry but I missed this. I don't know who you are refering to but when he made that comment he must sueely have lost all that repect unless the dring position of your car has been altered from standard.Overall, the position is, at best, average. The pedal arangement is a disaster and I have seen many attempts to solve this, ranging from 2 or more pedals aon the accel;erator through to a rather fetching wooden block attached to the pedal.

Next, the steering wheel is in the wrong postion and many change the wheel and/or a boss to correct this. Even on a LHD car, everything is offset in relation to the driver and the other components (although not as bad as a RHD car).

The only thing that can be described as being "purfect" about the driving position is at least its inside a 964 RS. It could have been in some piece of rubbish![:D]
