Soda blasting

The Ferrari Dino that I have been working on and off for a while was soda blasted yesterday. What a job it makes of the paintwork removal. They stripped it in light rain with no corrosion appearing which I was rather sceptical of. I will see if the mate got any pics of it. Cost £750 for a whole shell to be done including doors and the 3 boot lids. I know how the E type will be done now, none of this immersion stuff.

The trouble with immersion is caustic soda is that you cant ever be certain that youve got it all out, isnt it? It also removed all of the seam sealer making making everyday corrosion a real worry too.

£750 seems rather steep though, but maybe thats because Im a half Scots Yorkshireman? [:D]

Looks good but cost wise it is about the same as my race cars body shell dip at Surface Processing Ltd. The process SPL use also leaves the metal with this weird coating that seems to stop it from rusting.

The soda blasting is a great idea though for localised treatment.
 
Who does that belong to Al ?
I know of another being rebuilt just up the road from me.

blimey that job looks awfully expensive to me .Not just the blasting but prepping and refinishing as well . Wish I had the sort of money where cost just wasn't a consideration.

I seem to vaguely recollect a unit on a Bristol trading estate somewhere that had upwards of 15x assorted ferraris outside . I just sat there in my car oggling them for ages .
