I was chatting on FB with Jon yesterday talking about 944's, as some here know he's a big fan and has several of his own...he sold an 'S' recently, think it was something like £23k..It wasn't his own I believe...there is one car that he'll probably never sell as in his opinion and my own as it happens, it's the best of the bunch...we are of course referring to the '86' 951...if I had £50k to spend on a car it would go into a full restoration of my own car, IMHO there isn't a £50k car out there that could replace it..

just some fun,,,
if you HAD to spend £50k on one of our lovelys,,
what would you choose?
low mileage turbo s,,,,club sports,,,,gts,,,,,carrera gt,,, or any two for 25k each,,,
no variables must be one or two of our front engine models ,,,,,
cant seem to make my mind up which one or two i would have,,,,,,jasonp

Your 951 bears little resemblance to a standard 1986 944 turbo though Pete [;)]. Would you be content with 220 bhp and no LSD. And S2's giving you a hard time :ROFLMAO:.

yep....check out Porsche's response when asked by the auto press which was quicker 'point to point between 220 and later 250 models...yep, you guessed it, the 220....:)

All the bells and whistles 16v 968 Sport turbo.

The production 968 Turbo's were 8v, why would you fit a twin cam?

A friend is just finishing a 944 Race car ftted with 3.0 8v turbo motor and he's looking to be over 550hp

Lol, brakes, suspension, gearbox and the slipper are all better on the 250.

For me its a low mileage 928 gts or a mint silver rose WITH tartan plaid interior lol and air con with standard turbo/engine,,,,,

probably the silver rose if pushed,,,,,jasonp

I'm the same as Blade, only I'd drop the 968 16v Turbo into my own 944 as I prefer the shape

If modification isn't allowed then it would have to be a 924 Carrera GT (though I dont think £50k is enough for a really good one)

Porsche chose an 8 valve head on the 968 turbo and turbo S

I'd be really controversial and have one of those estate versions made. There was a post on them on Facebook the other day and I remembered how much I like them.

And the base car? A 944, for sure. In fact I probably wouldn't mind which one as I'd transplant one of those V8's into the front. LS3 or LS1 or whatever the alloy-block and alloy-head one is. I think that would fit within the £50k budget.

Any spare I'd put into a good 928. I think there wouldn't be enough for Jason's GTS choice so I'd go for a really early one with the purest shape to the body.

Oli.

Have EMC fit a set of forged rods and 9 to 1 pistons in your S2 and you'll be all set for the future [;)].

evos just dropped through my letterbox....there's a full blown 7 page article on 924 CGT.....they say value now £35-£55k, so in budget!
