That actually looks better than a 911, but still not quite as nice as a DS. []

If the engine is in the front, it is better by some margin...TTM said:graham tompkins said:If you think that's bad..Kop this

That goes without saying! To answer the original question, if I had £50k to spend on a front engine Porsche, and having had the chance to drive about most cars of the 924/944/968 range, from a basic 924 to a 968 turbo S clone running an original RS engine, I would simply not spend that much as mine is about as close as the potential I believe they can reach, at least this side of a usable road car. With £50k I would probably just spend £12k to have both the turbo and S2 absolutely perfectly repainted.
I would not consider a Cayenne or a Macan a front engine Porsche as they are built on the same platform as other cars of the VAG group, which is not the case with our cars. I tried hard to love the 928 and got the chance to drive most of the nicest examples but there is just nothing they do any better than our cars, at least better than my (obviously modified) 944 turbo. I learned to enjoy even the typical tractor soundtrack of the 944 8V engine which can get "ok" with a good exhaust system over the fussy note of all 928's V8. It has been a long, expensive, time-consuming and sometimes upsetting journey since I bought the S2 16 years ago and the turbo 11 years ago but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I learned a lot in the process and got the chance to come across many interesting individuals I would not have met otherwise. If we look at the low finish quality, over-valued, electronically-overwhelmed and dynamically dull offerings we get these days in that price range, most of us long termers who had the chance to purchase our cars at the bottom of their market value yet spent much on maintenance, can rejoice for all the fun we have had, which over the long term may have proven cheaper than we probably expected compared with the quality of the experience. Yes I believe my N/A is very close to the max achievable for a modified N/A and quicker than stock turbo's & 968 for road use.......
