Some mistake surely ? ! ?

Sorry Yves, this thread has gone off on somewhat of a tangent, my bad...

I will let you know what my OPC says later today about trade-in prices and projected depreciation over time.

I will also be asking about the new technologies coming soon like the PDK, and the upcoming face-lift (which includes a 2nd set of directional lights in the forward lamps, the back-end slightly remodelled, and also an extendable front spoiler to stop the front getting light when accelerating... looking at the recent spy shots).

Would enyone like to speculate what Porsche will be charging for the DSG box?

The dilema I have is do I go ahead and take a build slot for a 997TT for the end of this year (Manual) or do I hang on to see if the DSG comes in for MY 08? Will the DSG box hit the resale of manual cars? Will the last manuals become classics? Problems problems!!
Go to the audi garage and drive an A3 3.2 manual back to back with a DSG, decide which you prefer ... my cash would be most would opt for the DSG, and I would guess that that will be the case for the 911 too, especially in the turbo as the turbo is more of a gadget car than say a GT3.

I think the Porker depreciation graph (trade in price) reads something like this In round figures, probably twist the arm for a bit more, very high spec cars will obviouslt loose more as a percentage...

Taking a new 997S at £70k including options, with 5-8k annual mileage.

yr1 - 20% drop - £56,000 (loss £14k)
yr2 - 30% - £49000 (loss £21k)
yr 3 - 40% - £42000 (loss £28k)
yr 4 - 45% - £38500 (loss £31.5k)
yr 5/6 - 50% - £35,000 (loss £35k)

I do agree with you all, it does make you think come re-sale, I think the reduced residuals will affect new car sales.
Was offered £49k for my 4 year old 996TT, that is a 48% drop & would mean another £57k for a new 997TT.
Now the new Turbo may be better, but 60k better, I don't think so!!?

Interesting Grant, thanks! [8|]

In which case I think I will keep my C2S Cab for at least 10 years, give it to my other half after 3 years as her car, save up and buy a new 998 Turbo Coupe with PDK for myself ("¦and hope it becomes a classic so that retains it's value a little better in the long-term!)

That seems to be the most economical way to proceed. Of course the 998 Turbo with PDK will probably be about £115k with ceramic brakes et all. So the goal posts are always moving further and further away"¦ [&o]

Alex,

Of course we are all ignoring the hidden costs of escalating fuel prices, insurance costs etc which will further affect residuals. If we get another oil crisis like the 70's our cars will be worth tuppence ha'penny !

Best to enjoy what we have in these last days I think.

Abba were right you know. Its a rich mans world.

Yves

Then theres the speeding fines ! congestion charges , minor accidents, car park dings, thefts and vandalism. The only reason i can think to buy a new porsche would be to offset depreciation against tax if the car was for business use.Otherwise you are plain barmy! Maybe your dealers are good but I couldnt bear to throw good money at an ignorant money grabbing OPC . I would rather give to Gordon Brown ! Rant over , before i really get going!
