Some shots of my 911T

Absolutely superb[8D]depth of paint colour and the offset of the Fuchs wheels . Thanks for posting.

Absolutely fantastic - you have to love it!

passenger seat getting cleaned in the house, much to the disgust of my wife.

Maybe she shouldn't mind if she's going to sit on it, perhaps?

Hi Tom, do you know where in Italy the car came from? and do you have any information about the selling garage?
I only ask because following on from the September PCGB Porsche factory visit, I drove my 2.4S down to Bologna to find the original selling garage. This was Autogerma spa, Bologna, which no longer exists, although the now run down building does. My 1973 911S was originally sold there in October 1972. I have not been able to find much about Autogerma , which is now the main Porsche importers into Italy and has been located in Turin for many years.

David,

Apologies for not responding back, for some reason I have not been receiving any email via the forum? I don't know if my firewall setting are restricting things.

A good starting point in terms of advice and research into what car, spec and costs was the DDK forum. The people on DDK have been really helpful (one or two in particular) and provided a lot of good advice. You can follow restoration threads and get a feel for whats possible and at what price.

In terms of looking for cars, you need to be really quick once you made your mind up, good cars are sometimes sold via PM's or word of mouth. I subscribed to a few sites and just followed my nose for a few months, it almost becomes and obsession (so my wife would have you believe). I eventually found my car via a forum post on the early 911 registry which I am a member of, it was a post of an advert by a Spanish member with a link to a Spanish website which led me to importing the car from Vigo. All good fun with a translator involved back and forward for roughly two months!

Impact bumbers website is also a good source of info.

It really depends on what era you are looking for and then immerse yourself in the forums and quite often an honest post on DDK saying what you are looking for does result in people contacting you with potentials projects/ cars that are not currently advertised. I made contact with a collector in the States who was considering selling a yellow 1972 911T, at the time it was beyond what I wanted to spend and didn't need anything. Not what I was after, in the end for what I have spent I could have bought the yellow car.

Well done Tom,

I had the privilege of seeing your car in the flesh at the Scarecrow Parade day in Bothwell. Puts me in the notion to look for a similar project. How did you know what to buy, where to look etc?

Robin, unfortunately I don't have very much detail other than the basics from the Certificate of Authenticity. I imported the car from Spain, he spoke no English and all I can say in Spanish relates to the ordering of a another large beer and can I have the bill. My friend in Spain had previously imported the car from Holland. Truly a European car.

I have a friend who has several early cars (original RS included - lucky so and so) and has contact wit the Italian Porsche Club, he might be able to assist. He is on DDK regularly and goes by 210hp (Mike), really great guy and might be able to assist.

Regards

Tom

Robin if you want to speak to Mike I have his phone number so I could put the two of you in contact. I think his RS came from Italy.

Ian.

James Charnley (jamescharnley on here or hot66 on DDK) also has an Italian 2.4S which he has probably researched so may also be able to help you with Italian information.

Some further shots from a photo shoot in Edinburgh with Marty McKillop.

Fantastic shot's ....the car looks amazing .Does he fancy a nice Red Spyder as a subject to photograph ??[;)][;)]

Brian, he is a real nice guy, in his early 30's and really passionate about photography. Does a fair bit of photography through Pistonheads and as you can imagine a bit of a petrol head. I am sure he would love to take some pictures of your Spyder, nice modern backdrop like the Hydro or something similar would look incredible with your car. I am going to get my some shots of my 993 as well. Let me know if you want more detail, he is not hard to deal with.

Cheers

Hi, saw this car in the flesh at the Bothwell scarecrow festival and absolutely loved it, would never have believed it was the same car in those original, pre restoration shots...what an achievement, you must have a permanent grin on your face!

How does it drive after all your restoration work?

How does it drive after all your restoration work?

Its its different, but good. Very light steering, dog leg first gear and then long throw gears. The car is 2.2 T so the entry level at the time, originally delivered to Italy who predominantly kept there cars simple, no hazard lights, no electric windows, nothing extra that didn't add to the driving experience. Once the car is up and going its an absolute joy, noisy, fast enough for the brakes and suspension it came with and smells like a car, to the extent my wife says it gives her a sore head and wont travel in it. Could not get any better!

Given you are local, more than happy to let you have a drive.
