Somethng nice to say about an OPC

ORIGINAL: garyw
Its not Tom... but as you say it seems so, it's more emotive with the noise/scream it generates.

Full throttle gear changes in my Scuderia always brought the fear a 4 grand clutch change was due anytime soon! [:(]

Regards,

Clive.

But Clive, its part of those delicate Italian mistresses [8D] [;)]

I'm surprised no SLS in the thought... they go better than anyone gives them credit and sound amazing!!
If I could have seen to the end of the bonnet then I'd of given it another go..[:-]

Yep, with the 40 acre bonnet you can have a market garden along with the drive! [:D]

They sound great but feel a bit slow in the other company - inside it is too £30k merc and it very very tail happy. Also along with the market garden on the bonnet it says more than any other of the cars corrective surgery is required for an vastly undersized todger....

Clearly Quentin Wilson suffers from the Todger issue Tom[:D]

Well I did hear about Mr WIlson

Jut not my cuppa

Now a nice rorty V10 on the other hand......

Horses for courses. Italian charisma v German efficiency. Full throttle gear changes in my Scuderia gives me goose bumps! Absolutely fabulous involving car in every way, very light and all gear changes are an event, no sound like it, absolutely love it for a blast out. PDK in my GTS very efficient, sports exhaust sounds fruity, feels on the heavy side, but still good fun and fast enough for day to day driving and continental touring.

Rintul like your thinking and as in all thing horses for courses or is that Bulls

Most that know me wouldn't seriously think I'd go for the Audi but here was the logic

[:D] Price - fully specced at £131k in full V10+ spec with that glorious derivative of a Lambo engine and an everyday usability tag without the stigma/attention other cars get. Nice
[:)] Supposedly reasonable running cots and everyday usability
[:D]SWMBO likes the look of them

So reality

[:D] t is that much cheaper and deals can be had
[]Terrible understeer on the road
[:)]Not a cheap to run a you might think ref a 911 but till cheaper than mot of its rivals
[]terrible understeer on the road
[:)] The engine sound nice but not a nice as it should be
[] Did I mention understeer
[:-] Starting to look and drive like anther Audi as the bits get released in other models, so some of that special interior isn't so special anymore
[:-] R TRONIC, cut down and les capable pdk
[8|] At 6ft 3 it actually hard tog et into , short on headroom and knee clearance on the wheel and hard to get a comfy seating position.

Ultimately Madam summed it up this way - when a lambo pulls up beside you you'll cry your eyes out and when your sat next to a standard 991 you'll know its a better car and cheaper to run...........

Bought a 2000 Boxster S 986 on Ebay a month ago,
Took it to OPC Colchester for a fixed price major service last week.
They did a fine job, no problems at all. Will go there again.

991 Turbo S on it's way then Tom[:D]

Paul, apart from the mixed reviews and lack of people raving about them.........it would take some convincing at the money.

But here was the shortlist I started with, less the R10+

- 991 GT3 - been offered one
- 997 GT2 RS - been offered one
- Aston AM V12 - sounds ***dy marvellous and does not hang around (don't believe they all break)
- Ferrari 458 (not red and not the stripped out version) - Reviewed as fab, achingly beautiful
- McLaren MP12 (second hand they look great value) - Rocket Sled

Other cars that weren't on the list but had not yet ruled out

- Lamb Hyura/late Gallardo (running costs and reliability) - Oh my G***
- 991 Turbo S (poor reviews and owners concerns plus was it exciting enough) - Reviewed a surprisingly better than anticipated

To help - The financial controller automatically banned one of the cars from the shortlist, once underway on deciding a surprise entry made t onto the short list, the one both of us wanted we could not come to terms with the dealership on. Also I was not allowed to buy the one I really really wanted (this time)

Does this help narrow it down.....

BTW Alex there is an Aventador near me, in matt black - it stunning to look at and even better to listen too, its very wide but on the wider roads round here it F***g fast and eat superbikes for breakfast once on the move.
