sound system! what you got?

Well how old do I feel? I'm assuming these people are musicians not footballists?
John,

Sorry - obscure musicians ... how old are you anyway? (I have given up assuming people's ages on forums since a recent blunder on the Titanic list ... I suggested that a fellow 944 owner may have been in a hurry because he was taking his pregnant wife to hospital ... turned out that the chap in question was long since retired and expecting his nth grandchild ... )

enjoyed almost all of Bent's "Created to Love" on the way to work this morning,

Hi Oli, that was a bit spooky as I was listening to Bent 'Everlasting Bent' when I read that (which isn't a patch on Programmed to Love). Now playing Royksopp 'Understanding' which seems to suit the weather today, and I feel like a bit of Mr Scruff in a moment. Not sure if the passers by the shop are so convinced as it's been cranked up with the doors open all afternoon, but it certainly draws people in [:D]

... Royksopp 'Understanding'
Bliss! Lovely! Cracking set of tunes!

Have yet to get into Mr Scruff. I have his "Trouser Jazz", but it hasn't gripped me (yet). Maybe I'll play that in the car tomorrow, and have another crack at it ...

('m listening to the scintillating hum of offer workers trying to pretend they are working when actually they are doing nothing of the sort. Did someone say something about the weather?)

I'd recommend 'Keep it Unreal' as the place to start with Mr Scruff, this is a truly great album, (I'm listing to his 'Big Chill' compilation now which I'd also recommend to anyone, although it's rather different from his own work). You'll probably find that you'll recognise most of the tracks on Keep it Unreal as they've been used everywhere (much like Lemon Jelly's 'KY').

Wow this has really gone off topic [:D]

I suppose I should add that my car stereo consists of an Alpine head unit, four knackered standard speakers and a rather noisy exhaust... (I spent a lot of time getting the sound right in my last car, but haven't bothered in the 944).

Old enough to have AC/DC, Ennio Morricone, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Katie Melua, Led Zeppelin, Marillion (with Fish), Meat Load, Mike Oldfield, Neil Diamond, Peter Frampton, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Santana & Van Morrison on my phone .........and wonder why people would ever fit multiple CD changers ever again.

In my car i have a Pioneer of some sort and some speakers can't remember which and can't go and check until I get the car back from getting the cills fixed and the small hole in the rear quarter panel repaired after reversing into a big Tractor trailer somehow.

I usually listen to either The Clash, (mostly London Calling) The Specials, Led Zep, Nirvana, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, or Rush, and occasionaly Faithless

Early 30's then. Like me.

Quite agree. My head unit doesn't have an aux input, but is MP3 compatible so I burn lots of tracks onto disc, the quality may not be great (I have to add that proviso as I'd hate to be seen completely advocating it [;)]) but it's only there for noise when I'm on the motorway or stuck in traffic. I never use the radio, can't stand any of the stations on FM and don't want to buy a DAB head unit just to get Radio 6.

32, and those are nice choices. If I want to listen to something electronic I tend to slap in something like Laurent Garnier from the early 90's. Brings back lots of memories (Acid Eiffel etc)

At home I often listen to Stan Getz and similar jazz men.

Excellent, I'm very keen on Oscar Peterson, even if a jazz muso friend did say that he didn't like him because he played too many notes...

My favourite artists are probably Tom Waits and Lou Reed, but I think I enjoy almost every genre, with the exception of most Opera. Favourite album (when I'm in the mood) is the decidedly odd Tilt by Scott Walker. I think I'll stop there otherwise I'll bore everyone for hours [:)]
