Charles

Are you planning on going again?

See my post on the 2006 Ring thread.

Regards

Ollie

Yes, PhilRS and and I will be there for full 3 days. I am also going to the Ring after and then to a Drift day at theMichelin test ground not far from the Ring for some drifting and banked ring speed testing. That's on the 15th May so will go down to the Columbus, Monaco for some R&R in between. DC and mates are sometimes in the bar. Can then discuss he finer points of Eau Rouge with the experts!

Charles

From memory is was about 300 euros per day for the full day, which also includes loads of little give aways (oil etc). They also ran a free Porsche clinic when we were there where the mechanics would do any work free of charge (within reason) with you only paying for the parts.

any chance someone could explain what happens / is available over the 3 days... ?

regards

Format.

Fun ( Fast and unpredictable)
Sport ( Quick and busy)
Race ( Very quick)

Non stop sessions about 50mins. 4/5 per day 8.30 - 18.00

Sunday one session less as they do a parade lap at lunchtime.

FREE FOOD AND DRINK ALL WEEKEND.

300Euro a day with hospitality( 5*)

Hiighly recommended.

Don't forget the free set of stickers to go on the doors with your "race" number on them. We paraded these around for a good few weeks after the event.

I think the guys with no helmets give it away ! [:D]

Not a lot different from the sessions. 75-100 cars per session.

Keeps your wits about you. 3 abreast at bus stop is not unusual.

They have very good disipline and you will get black flagged if you are ungentlemantly. Basically don't hold up faster cars and use your mirrors.

It is chalk and cheese with UK track days.

Charles

Looks like quite a queue building up behind you in the first picture ......... parade lap?

I heard last years event was very good fun and well run. E300 including hospitality seems good value.

Mmmm 75-100 cars in sessions with everyone trying to get the most out of there sessions[:(] not sure about that. But very good value if food is included. Have to be honest and say I prefer Autotrack's open pit lane policy. Fewer cars on track in general. £195 per day.

Autotrack are by far the worst most dangerous days I have come across. Overtaking on the left only is just dangerous full stop!

No food, no thought for partners..........Crap driving.

I could go on.

PhilRS was overtaken going into Eau Rouge where Bellof died.
I was hit by a Caterham through Combes where ther ewas no room for overtaking
Thomas Schmitz lost his bumper at La Source to some idiot who braked too late.

We had all driven the 3 PCSF days previously without incident. With 3 times the no. of cars on track. The driving was much higher quality.

PhilRs driving........what can I say?

It was obviously the first lap as we all came out of the pits together. It is busy out there but we were not holding anybody up. The ones in front were obviously slower!

Combined with a Ring visit...........what an awesome trip what a GUMBALL!

I have been to Spa with Autotrack for the last four years or so but missed last year entirely. I have never had a problem, the last time i was there so was Thomas so i assume he liked it enough to come back again. Forgive my ignorance what exactly is dangerous about having a left hand overtake rule ? Just about every track day organisation I know with the exception of one uses it. They can't all have the wrong Idea can they? The exception does not exactly have an unblemished record.
I except that the food and partners thing is a problem for those who actually bring partners along(that said my ex wife never complained, though she enjoyed herself too much[;)]). However given that other uk track companies charge more than double for the same day i think it's a small price to pay (if you pardon the pun). Each to his own.
