SPA 2006 Superb 3 Day event & 750 Porsches

Autotrack was fine last year, but track etiquette a bit poor at times....as Charles said....

Personally, I had no problems...

I'm going back with them in May.

I've only done one Autotrack event at Spa - but I'm intending to do more.

I too understand the "Overtake on the Left" rule is pretty ubiqutous. It is what I was told when I did the Race School at Brands Hatch as well - but that WAS a long long time ago...[&o]

My partner wasn't bored either - we went out together and swapped over every few laps. It helps having an intercom link in the crash helmets I guess?

Giving strict rules for overtaking on trackdays seems to me to be the only way to go and I think that the "overtake on the left" does have its origins in racing. However, it is now generally accepted that while racing, to let somebody past, you pull over to one side and saty ther, the side being the one least likely to be interpretted as the "racing line". However, I am fairly sure that when I received race training (late 70's) we were told that if there was doubt get right and be overtaken on the left.

IMO, if you con't have such a rule on trackdays, it is all to easy to misinterpret intentions. Is the driver ahead moving over to the left to let me past or for another reason? It's too ambiguous. Only overtake on the left is a very sensible rule.

PCGB track days ALWAYS include a rule about overtaking - its generally on the left but not always (Castle Coombe for example is overtake on the right) - seems to be based on the premise 'overtake on the opposite side to the pit lane exit'

Are outsiders invited to attend their "Franco Fun Days"?
What are these about?

Don't know what you mean by outsiders but it is open to all Porsche Clubs.

As explained it is track day format. Racing line is maintained and faster drivers overtake where they feel it is safe to do so.

The slower car has the racing line through the corners. Seems to work much better than LHS overtaking only.

Charles,
Thanks for the clarification. I had assumed they are a members-only club, and these activities are normally restricted.
