SPA + RING TRIP OCT 2012 URGENT

ORIGINAL: por911t

A slight problem re track insurance for the 'ring & Spa....... Manning doesnt supply track insurance for track days alone - its only as part of an annual policy - help !

Im with Alliance - Ive asked them the question and am awaiting an anwser but think I know what it'll be !

I thought that I could purchase track insurance separately - any helpis much appreciated !

Cheers Barry
As Lindsay says, the cheapest option would be a new policy with Manning, alternatively these guys:
http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/

will give you day insurance, but it won't be cheap!!!

Remember, you don't NEED insurance - most cars on the circuit (including myself) have no form of insurance....just depends if you're happy with the risk. Its one of the reasons I switched from tracking a porsche to the westfield - at the time I simply couldn't get track insurance and couldn't afford the loss, so switched to a cheapo track car and haven't been reliable since!

Just catching up on these, looks like I missed the t-shirt?
I got insurance through manning, its much cheaper than cover for a single day but you risk your NCB.
Think I might look into getting a dedicated track car, its not so much fun when you have the restrictions of running your road car.

Gordon, you just wish you could catch a sheep!

Keeping myself glued to the long range weather forecast.............
Looks not too bad but the dark clouds are gathering.

On the Spa info it says:

Contact REIS Insurance Management on 0115 985 0165 for track day insurance cover. Mention you are doing a Circuit Days event and that we are ATDO members (note track day insurance is not mandatory to participate).

Changing to Manning probably cheaper though.

Decided the weather is going to be mixed at best, new Cups not suitable and the set of PS2s might disappoint if summer does return so Pilot Super Sports it is. Not N rated but needs must.

Right, I'm going to nip this in the bud right now!

THE WEATHER... Gordon (DAD to all) has been calling me every single day for the last 10 Days to tell me what the weather is going to be like in further 4 Days time... WTF!

The weather (especially The Ring) is only worth looking at the day before, it can all change very quickly out there. It's even been the case where we have been on Track/Toll Road and it's blazing sunshine and you turn a corner it's lashing it down... as I said, for a more accurate daily weather report it's really not worth looking at until the day we leave... SO STOP UPDATING ME ON A DAILY BASIS DAD (Aka John Ketley)

Greig, has Sausage Fingers been updating you also?
every 4 fcking minutes....you'd think my internet was broken or I didn't know how to use it!

I wouldn't mind a wet day anyway, equalises my power/top speed disadvantage and we all like 12.93 miles of going sideways anyway!

What is the plan for the Scottish contingent, I am sure I might be able to keep up with the guys with the trailers, when and where are you meeting up?
Here's my suggestion which will be ignored by everyone, but includes a bit of "buffer" time for weather/breakdowns/traffic...

12.00pm - Greig/Gordon and any other west-coasters who want to go at our pace meet at Abington services
2.30ish - Stop at the Fox Hall Inn for a late lunch
4.00pm - Meeting point at Scotch Corner Services
6.00pm - Ferry check-in
To follow on from this for anyone working to these timescales.....fingers wants to build in more buffer (any more feckin buffer and we'll catch the ferry for the day before!!)

now talking:
11.00am - Greig/Gordon and any other west-coasters who want to go at our pace meet at Abington services
1.30ish - Stop at the Fox Hall Inn for a late lunch
3.30pm - Meeting point at Scotch Corner Services
6.00pm - Ferry check-in

However going by previous experiences the chances of us leaving abington anywhere near 11am are ZERO.....but there you have it!
