Gary,

I've started a new thread on this as it sound like a great idea for a Register Plus trip - by this I mean keeping it open for other Club members not just the 997 Register.

We've had some highly successful past trips with a great mixture of Porsche models. Porsche people really are a great bunch and wonderful company to tour with! [:)]

For those interested in finding out more, you can get a flavour of Gary's trip this year here [link=https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=873153&mpage=2]https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=873153&mpage=2[/link]

First, we need to gauge interest, so if you guys and gals feel a trip to Spain for some VIP treatment and wonderful driving would fit the bill, please let us know right away. Definitely no commitment at this stage - just an indication of potential interest and if there's sufficient support, we'll look at it in closer detail and come back with an itinerary and costings for your consideration.

Could prove to be another epic trip! [;)]

Regards,

Clive.

Este es un idea muy interesante y queremos hacer este viaje con vosotros si es possible.

Yes, put us down please. [I think I saw a Cayman in the video.]

Might be able to suggested some roads/places to stay soon - we are taking the 968 cab on the ferry to Santander 15th September then taking a very scenic route along the North side of the mountains to Santiago de Compostela, then an equally scenic route along the south side of the mountains to Leon, Argomaniz then through the Pyrenees to Lourdes, Millau, Puy de Dome, Epernay and home!

For accomodation in Spain I'd suggest looking at Paradores ([link=http://www.parador.es/en]http://www.parador.es/en[/link], the website is quite slow) and signing up (for free) as an Amigo de Paradores. Some of the buildings are incredible (Leon for instance) and the gastro package (dinner, bed and breakfast) looks very good value. Beware the parador in Santiago though, it's expensive so it's the one stop we're not using a parador!

Hi Clive,

We're interested , it depends on the dates next year, so keep us informed please.

cheers

Steve/Rosemary

Looks like it's going to be 10 days or so next year to include 19 - 22 May going-on Gary's post above.

You are free to participate/pay for as much of the event as you wish.

I took the AAA ticket, so that I could pick and choose what I wanted to take part in.

For the foodies, it is an amazing experience...

David, tables and beers all provided [;)]

From there I'm sure that some register activities will be added [:D]

So long as the return date is before 6th June, we're definitely up for this one. Please add us to the list Clive.

Well that's the most important things covered. I know how to ask for a highchair for a child. Possibly not the most useful phrase on this trip!

Of course, the irony of all this is that wherever we go the locals will probably be able to speak good English (if they choose to!).

To put some meat on the bones, I've gone through my costs for attending this years event.

They offer various packages allowing you to attend as much or as little you want through the weekend.

I took the full package and as mentioned didn't have to spend an additional penny on any of the days, except say a bottle of water outside of the event and your fuel.

The full package for the event was £225.00 per person

The hotel for the three nights was £201.00

Ferry currently showing as £305.00 for one direction (including your bed) leaving Wednesday 18th May arrives mid afternoon in Santander.

Depending on how the event expands, then hopefully this gives everyone an idea of expected costs - all bookings were direct

Clive

Please can Jeannie and I be added to the list?. We've booked a ferry crossing to Bilbao arriving midday on Thursday 19th May so will be in Santander mid afternoon.

Terry

One thought for you all - I checked with my insurers Classic Line and found that, as an automatic part of my insurance, I not only have fully comp insurance for our trip, I also have full European breakdown insurance, just have to check if this includes recovery to UK if needed. Saves a bunch of money compared to something like AA European breakdown insurance!!

Would not surprise me if other insurers like Lockton etc offer the same, but worth checking!
