Which crossing have you booked?

11.45 from Portsmouth to Bilbao 18 May

15.15 From Santander to Portsmouth 23 May

Outside cabin going out

Inside coming back! all outsides allready booked unless you want a premium cabin

Cheers Roger, the organiser of the Santander event gets/offers a 10% discount on the ferry crossings, so currently looking at trying to get the code..[:)]

Gary

To be clear, this trip is to attend the Santander Supercar event? It's not a touring trip as Norway was?

Regards

David

David, Definitely to attend the Santander supercar event.

However, I'm currently trying to organise for those interested a road trip back through Spain and France for those that would prefer to come back to the UK via the roads rather than the return ferry, which seems to be the preferred option from feedback.- so not totally clear I'll admit [:-]

'VOLUNTEER REQUIRED!

Several members have enquired about this trip in the last few days and I have to say, as it stands, the prospects of it going ahead are gloomy at the moment, unless we can get a volunteer to head it up.

Both of the main protagonists are scheduled for major surgery with long recovery periods in the New Year, so it's doubtful whether either will be in a position to take an active part or commit to the tour. Alan will also be leaving the Register after the Southwest tour in April to take over running R15 region, so, as you can see, we're going to be short of manpower unless somebody else steps up to the plate. If you'd be interested in taking this on, please let me know 997@porschelubgb.com. You can be assured of our full support, advice and assistance. You don't even have to own a 997 either. members with other Porsche models would be welcome So as you can see, we're working on it and we'll probably take a final decision on this event early in the New Year. Regards, Clive

Wish you luck on the crossing - we went Portsmouth - Santander on 15th September on the 40k ton cruise ferry, felt ill and ate nothing during the day part of the crossing, got to the Paradore late still feeling ill.

Having said that, if you stay at a Paradore in Santillana, go for the Santillana del Mar not the Gil Blas - there's no parking at Gil Blas, it's all at Del Mar, the cheeky sods charge 9 Euro for their above ground car park and 12 Euro for the undergorund!

And typically today I have been sent the running order for the event next May in Santander

Majority of things are all in place, just looking at someone to step forward to assist on the ground...

As long as the surgery goes as planned I will be back on my feet(and hope to still attend the event, but currently can't take the risk and have the issue of organising something and then not being able to attend.

Hopefully we can find someone to volunteer.

Yet another adventurous trip for this year and, according to our past expeditions, one well within our capabilities. However, you will recall, I asked for volunteers prior to Christmas to help lead the venture, which comprises a trip to the Spanish Supercar weekend in Santander on 19th to 22nd May, then a drive back over the mountains to Blighty over a few days. This was needed now due to ill health preventing the original instigators from committing.

So far, no one has come forward, so it looks as though we'll have to kick it into touch, at least as far as an official Register tour is concerned. This is a pity as several people expressed initial interest (as listed above). Maybe they can get their heads together to sort something out between themselves, but from the Register’s point of view, we’re shelving the project. Sorry. [&o]

Regards,

Clive.

I agree, this is a shame.

[:(]

For my part I do not feel able currently to lead such a trip and, based on our Norway experience, I fear that I would not be fast enough for you race and rally drivers!

Dave,

You're being too modest.

You were the one that got done for speeding in Bergen if memory serves! :ROFLMAO:

Clive

ouch!! []

Thank you for even thinking about it David, there's nothing to organise on the weekend part of the trip,- its just the route back through France, which I'm more than happy to help the lead to organise and book.

We may be able to assist with the booking of Ferries, we can obtain reasonable discounts on Brittany ( if you intend using them ) which we would be more than pleased to pass on to club members. As we are bonded no issues with complying with the law.

Please let me know.

Stephen

Thanks for the offer Stephen, its the return leg that we were looking as the plan was to drive back through France.

It may yet end up being ferry there and back - which the organisers offer a reasonable discount on the ferry to encourage UK attendance.

I have registered for the weekend, and have be accepted even with lowly C4 cab, phase 1, due to time and health limitation am taking the ferry both ways, so not able to participate in drive back. Have booked hotel Chiqui, which organizers recommend, but other hotels are available. the Brittany ferry site offers a 10% discount, but fares have gone up since I booked, now about £700.00 return. Hotel 82.5 EU per night for double room and breakfast. The event is £310 EU per person, but includes all food and drink and tours. Not a bad deal as you get to dine in Michelin starred restaurants and lunch and dinners are laid on.

Anyone else going?

Roger
