Spark Plugs

Unless your son really wants an official Porsche stamp in the service booklet, as Graham has pointed out Porsche Independents give much better value and - arguably - a better and more personal service too.

He and I are with you 100%, and it is that route he is now going. A Porsche stamp and courtesy car would have been nice, but not for £2K more than what he can get from an Indie.

It is quite fun trying to justify OPC prices though. Even at £200/hr they are either very slow on some jobs, or mark up parts spectacularly, or expect it to go wrong and take a long time, or all of the above.

I appreciate, if they are going to replace all the bolts, the price is going to grow. Years ago I replaced the bolts on the exhaust system of my 951; £100+ for bolts and gaskets even back then.

I`ve not come across anything described as `optional` in the vehicle maintenance booklet / in discussion with OPCs

There are different levels of maintenance for the ongoing time / mileage segments, the maintenance required is clearly identified

What is being noted here as `optional` is described as `additional` in the maintenance booklet

Thanks Andrew, I agree it's additional. However, some people choose not to have the additional work done just the basic service part. So it becomes optional for some in reality. Way too confusing!

I think this is why Porsche subsequently brought in the all-inclusive price.

On further investigation with PC Leeds, it now appears the previous owner decided not to change the plugs as he was about to sell the car but then I don’t understand how the warranty was extended.

Agreed.

I moved from Hatfield to Cambridge when I was surprised that my first major service was quoted at £1,400 (rather than the £700 ish I had in my head from the fixed price menu of the time) but only got a discount from the parts dept. at Cambridge.

I'm not sure that the Porsche club really explains this benefit fully as I thought it was on parts (only). Cambridge didn't asked if I was a member...

The Fixed Price Menu back in 2019 effectively discounted the labour as no PCGB parts discount was applicable, I saved £300 on the full price of a six year service for a 981 Cayman S

November 2021 and that Menu no longer being available, the six year service on a 981 GT4 included the PCGB parts discount, saving was £50

..........

Rodney ... thanks for the feedback, I maintain that PC Leeds still have an obligation to you given the wrangle in extending the warranty
