Sports and Classic Car Weekend

We have been invited to the Sports and Classic Car Weekend at Sledmere House, near Driffield on Saturday and Sunday 12th to 13th July. The event is organised by the East Yorkshire Group of the MG Owners Club and the North Humberside Motor Club.

There is a tour of the Wolds on the Saturday with a barbecue and entertainment in the evening. The show itself takes place on Sunday and includes an autotest, concours and pride of ownership competitions. Camping is available on the Friday and Saturday nights. Admission charge is £10 per car and includes entrance for two people into Sledmere House and gardens.

This sounds like a really good event and the organisers are keen to have a Porsche presence so a good turnout from the Region would be great. Those of you who were on the tulip rally last week will know there are some excellent driving roads out towards Sledmere so even the drive out there should be fun.

Dedicated Porsche parking will be arranged but we will need to know numbers so if you are planning to go please post here. If you need more information, e-mail me at r7@porscheclubgb.com or come along to our June Club Night.

Hopefully Jan and I will be there - Sunday would suit us best. Usual disclaimers re. flood and pestilence apply .

Hi Ian,

It's the same weekend as Classic Le Mans which is a shame. May be next year?

John

Ian,

I live about 6 miles from Seldmere so will try to come along!! I have not made it to any of the club nights so far, the usual culprit of work I'm afraid, but as Summer is approaching I will try to make it.
Are you able to post further details as they become available - start time etc.?

Thanks

Hi Ian

Lorraine and I will be there for the Sunday event, Look forward to seeing you

Steve & Lorraine

Ian Sadofsky who is co organising this event has been in touch with me asking for provisional numbers. Looks like there should be 8 of us attending from R7 and, having talked to Ian and Sharon, I will be going back to him with that figure tomorrow a.m. If anyone else wants to come then please post asap so that sufficient parking places together can be arranged.

Details as to times of opening etc. will be posted sometime tomorrow.

Any further questions please post here and I will try and help.

Thanks

Andrew

Attendance is, as ever, dependant on the weather!! The forecast for Sunday doesn't look too bad at the moment, so providing it's not throwing it down we will be there.

Doug,

Fully understand hence my comment in my original note : -
"Usual disclaimers re. flood and pestilence apply ."

Hope Sunday dawns with good weather - if so see you there.

Andrew

Further info.

1. Gates open on the Sunday 0930 - public apparently tend to flock in from 1100 onwards.

2. There will be an area designated for our parking - marshals will be aware - have not yet confirmed numbers.

3. Cost of entry per car £5 - though I am trying to get hold of some free passes but don't hold your breath!

4. Anyone who wishes to camp only needs to turn up apparently and will be guided to camp site.

5. Apparently although the display area is on grass there is chalk below so rain should not produce too much mud ( allegedly ! ).

That's it - more will be posted if I hear anything else.

Let's hope for good weather.

Andrew

Andrew,

I haven't confirmed on here before now, as I spoke to you last week at the Owl.
If the weather is reasonable I'll be there with Emma and Charlie, and my dad (Richard) will there in his car (if he has managed to get it clean after Chatsworth!)

Fingers crossed for a bit of sun.

Paul

Great - any more?

My e.t.a. will probably be 1030 ish - usual disclaimers on weather of course.

Andrew

As of this mornings post I now have 1 spare free pass for this event ( apparently admission fee is actually £10 per car not as I was led to believe ). First come first served - Steve W., I have reserved one for you already. Will be off line most of day but if any one wants it ring me on 07738 564856.

Andrew

Further update - there are 2 entrances to Sledmere House. The one you come to first when approaching from Stamford Bridge direction will be for public and the next ( after the Triton pub on your right ) is for exhibitors/car clubs etc. My sources indicate that if you go to this entrance and say you are part of Porsche display you may get in for nothing.

Worth a try!!

A.
