Spring Fettling

Well, the spring fettling might well turn into a summer fettling the way I'm getting on. I've only just recieved the parts from Pelican that I ordered nearly a month ago !! They'd been sat in UK customs for a couple of weeks whilst they decided how much they want to rob me for.

Anyway, I'm hoping to tackle the job over the weekend, is there any easy way of removing the flexible hoses? Should I expect problems with them being siezed or are there any special tool that might help with the job?

Cheers,

Did anyone answer your brake pad question? I think the Mintex 1144 might be a good price/performance compromise. Its a fast road pad but I have used them in the rear for track day use with no problem. Seems quite, disc friendly etc and stops pretty well. Best news is that they are cheap - not much more than OE pads. Suppliers are Questmead and MotorsportWorld (among others).

Despite my bad experience with Mintex 1155 track pads (probably due to oversize backing plates) I would also suggest trying 1155 or 1166 as a cheaper track day pad. These are about half the price of Porterfield and Pagid. If you can stomach the price then certainly use either of the 2 Ps - they work (and fit) but are expensive for something that doesn't last very long.

Richard,
I went for Pagid's in the end, fluid wise I opted for ATE super blue.
I hope it make a difference, the system is feeling a little wooden and lacks bite at the minute. I suspect that the front pads might have glazed over.

I currently have three stainless braided hoses and one seized rubber hose! I gave up and am going to leave it to Chris Turner to sort out. Bearing in mind you 3.2 is probably ten yaers younger than my SC You will probably be OK but start spraying with penetrating oil a few days before tackling the job and don't use heat.

If they are Pagid Blues (or Oranges) they will glaze a little in road use. A couple of big hard stops seems to bring them back to life. Having said that though, the Blues IMHO never have all that much bite. Their strength is that they just seem to work in any conditions - cold or baking hot at the end of a 30 minute track session. YMMV, but I only bought just the one set of Blues because I didn't like the feel all that much. I just put my old Blues back in as road pads and I still don't like them all that much. But, like I said, they work, unlike some pads...
