Still overboosting

If the cycling valve is at fault then I guess so. I'm still sceptical is isn't the BE though if the car is fine without it - I'm not totally sure how the cycling valve can be shown to be faulty by adding the BE but appears fine when the BE is removed.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]I have a spare cycling valve, but I am painfully aware that 2 or 3 other people are already waiting for me to find stuff in the garage I have promised them so I am reluctant to offer it. Then again I seem to have just bought another car so I have to clear out the garage in order to be able to fit #4 on the property. I may do that tomorrow and I'll post if I find it - you coult try it out and pay for it if it fixes the problem maybe, but it's not the easiest part to get at.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
I wonder if your BE has a stronger spring fitted. If it is boosting off the incar guage you will hit overboost. Turning the boost down will make the car feel slower and stop you hitting overboost. New chips and FPR will alllow you to run higher boost but you will need a boost guage and preferably some AFR monitoring to do this safely.

[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]I wondered when you'd bite...[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]I don't collect it until Thursday so pics after that, but the classic is the last Mk1 special edition, 1.8 in black with black hood, black leather, wood trim (which is delaminating badly so will either go or be replaced) and unique to the model 15" alloys.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]The roof folds down, it goes sideways, it shouldn't break down and it's a lot cheaper than something with a Stuttgart badge on the front that would end up not getting used for 340 days a year. But it's a bit gay.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Thanks Fen,

Don't go out of your way to find it as I'm in no hurry to work on the car in this weather.
I was also wondering if the air getting to the turbo isn't cooling it down then maybe there's a blockage there or something?

Anyone know how much a new chip, PFR ro AFR will cost as I didn't want to start upping the power (fuel economy is bad enough as it is at 20mpg)
