Strange fault, cutting out, DME?

I might have found the cause of my troubles....I was sitting in the car earlier (i'm sad like that) and i could hear relays clicking randomly, even with the ignition off...
Had a look at the fusebox, and it was soaking wet!
Dried out the relays etc, and it's been fine all day....

With all the rain we've had recently, it might be worth having a look....

Got it sorted. [:)] The car cut again this morning, so tapped the DME relay and car started. Ran for about 50 yards and cut out. I took the relay out, swore at it a bit then volleyed down the road. [] Went and retrieved it, put it back in but car still wouldn't start. So pulled out the jumper wires I made last night and it fired straight up. Got home and took the cover off the relay and it has a big crack round one of the solder joints. Looked at the date on it and it was 10 1987, so it hasn't done to bad. Anyone know how much they are from main stealer? Also has anyone used Euro car parts as they sell one for £16 + VAT?? Thanks for all the help guys.

Last time I bought one from Exeter OPC it was £18 delivered. This relay is one of those parts that is commonly charged more by the 'independants' - You often see them on ebay starting at £20 [8|]

helpful this...nice one.

currently having this prob with mi buds s2...

i borrowed her and she kept cutting out...ten mins later shes alive till...cuts out..
having a prod round and tap of relays used to help it seems, but shes been sat in garage a good while and shes dead as at mo.

new relay on order...will report back..

also removing tank to clean out and changin fuel filter...,pipes corroded..need changing and have had to go to hydraulic place to get new unions etc to sorts so can convert with short section of fuel flexi pipe. i serviced it a year or two back and attemtped to undo but it was not good then, i dont think its been changed in a good long while. Many years it would seem

so tank off, clean out..sort the sender which has a loose return feed pipe form its base...been broken by some rough arse it seems (found the fuel odour then) and the jubilee wasnt even connected...nice!, sort the pipework, clean out tank new filter and connections etc...rebuild, new relay up foront, should be good a for a while then...

its a shame as some stuff on the car has had a fortune spent on it but oithers like simple stuff , air filter and fuel havent been touched in years...

we'll get there!

I just got an OEM DME from Porsche in Sheffield but it's different to the original. The original was made in Germany and this new one says made in Hungary. Makes me think if it will last the 20 years the original one did?[8|]
Didnt buy the one from ECP as it was about the same price and didnt think it would be genuine.

Well my buds porsche is goin well again...tank cleaned out, sender checked etc and replaced...pump checked and refitted, new pipework to filter as it was shot..went to a hydraulic place and had pipework unions made..sorted...new filter and it now drives looooads smoother..
