Stripes on a 944

So what's peoples opinion. Good, Bad or indifferent. I am half toying with the idea of putting some of these stripes on for lemans for a bit of a laugh. If I don't like them they can come off after that. Just don't see many cars with them on. Loads of elises with them including mine.

The car is red so thinking white, with the large centre stripe and two smaller ones on the outside. Feel free to be as rude as you like[:-]

[:'(] yee haw. Dem Duke boys, c'mon y'all, breaker 1-9 y'all got your ears on? I got me a smokee comin' at ya!

Etc.

Not for me.

For the purpose of going to Le Mans, I say go for it.

However there's a 997 in Brighton that I see occasionally that still has the number "28" from presumably the last Gumball rally on it, and it looks kind of, well, a bit stupid. Mind you, respect for actually using his/her Porsche and not leaving it in the garage.

I need a union jack for the roof on mine, just trying to get that sorted.

OOH! tell me where you get that from!!!!!!..I WANT THAT NOW TOO!!! []

thanks for the info guys, I'll be sorting it out for a bit of fun I think as it's not too expensive if I hate it. Although I spent ALOT having them fitted on my elise and then had some muppet reverse into me a week later. That's why I'm not going crazy and having them fitted this time, I've seen how to do it so as long as I can get the materials...I'll be off being Daisy Duke at lemans (seeing as it seems Xenon is Bo and Luke rolled into one) [:D]

if we get it done Ill post the pictures...

ps you are on seloc aren't you I used to have a scandal 160....

Go for red on red, i know it sounds strange but the decals will be a slightly different colour to your car and will be seen but wont smack people in the face when they walk past... I have a black flag on my Black 44... i also have a black sun strip with porsche written on it in black...i think its good to look at but its not too much in your face ...[;)]

I think Black stripes could look really good on red, it would definately look striking but I think one of the reasons 944's work with relatively plain colours is the amount of black on them, you'd just be upping the ratio a bit [;)]

ahh good old seloc, I'm still there, keep planning to buy an S1 exige and do the honda conversion (or find one already done - hopefully by the end of the year) and eventually paint it my favorite colour, SCANDAL GREEN [:D] test drove one of the new 2-11's the other day as I was told that was the best alternative to what I want to do with the exige (and a similar cost by the time I do everything[]), but I'm too fat to get my foot over the sills nowadays (doors are good!)

OK. I think the 944 looks great as it is in single standard colours. I think that US muscle cars (65' Mustang, Dodge Charger, Plymouth Barracuda) look absolutely great with rally stripes. The 944 though has too much glass (i.e non striped area_ at a fairly low angle to the horizontal to make stripes work, and with a rear hatch made of glass and no boot, the other two stripes on the car lack symmetry.

The result (and you wont like this) any car other than US muscle car with stripes looks like a chav wannabe, people will think you have a 4000 w stereo pumping our hideous rap and r and b and you like to do doughnuts in service station car parks and finish every sentence with "innit", "bruv" and "wicked". [;)][:D][][:'(]

My view may be controversial but I just think the stripes do not suit a 944's shape and send out the wrong image.

I know I shouldn't like the idea of stripes but somehow I do...Not sure I would have the courage to slap some on mine. Though silver stripes on black may look pretty good...hmm.

On ebay there is a martini stripes decal for the car, having a white car I would love to get those famous blue and red stripes on her, but I am not brave enough !!

[:(]
I have to say, Scotty is on the money here. If I was to put stripes on my 944 (and I think it is an excellent idea for the Le Mans trip), I'd choose something like the Martini livery, or possibly Esso blue and orange with Esso logos.

Much much more appealing than just some generic 'stripes'.
