Stripes on a 944

ORIGINAL: zcacogp

If I was to put stripes on my 944 (and I think it is an excellent idea for the Le Mans trip), I'd choose something like the Martini livery, or possibly Esso blue and orange with Esso logos.

Those of us with light blue cars should consider a big Orange stripe and roundel like the Gulf 917's [8D]

Shame on you Oli. All that Gulf Racing heritage.....

Anyway, the Ford Focus ST comes with stripes now, presumably to evoke distant memories of the Ford Mustang and so on. But it isn't one, is it?

60's Yank muscle cars, yes - anything else (apart from Barry Boys Novas) no.

You've obviously not met Rick then. He's a big guy and has guns. I think I'd be a little circumspect with my comments. [;)]

However, last Eynsham Rick talked Belinda into driving Baby WUF there. I'm not sure it was the most pleasant of experiences as, I assume because of the stripes, all the chavs wanted to race her. If you are going to have stripes/decals/stickers or any other adornment you do need the grunt to back it up.........but for Le Mans I would say it is obligatory. [:)]

I thought seriously of getting this when we had the '44 (ours was white, so perfect ) but it was really the wife's car and she told me the idea was "chuffing carp" (or something like that [&:] )

edit: same place has GULF stripes too [8D]

The result (and you wont like this) any car other than US muscle car with stripes looks like a chav wannabe, people will think you have a 4000 w stereo pumping our hideous rap and r and b and you like to do doughnuts in service station car parks and finish every sentence with "innit", "bruv" and "wicked". [;)][:D][][:'(]

My view may be controversial but I just think the stripes do not suit a 944's shape and send out the wrong image.

I don't agree that Stripes ONLY work on american muscle cars at all (my S2 elise below). I think your right about the 944 glass comments though, but I might just buy the martini kit for a laugh (and lemans).

BUT WILL IT GO ON A RED CAR AND LOOK OK????

I've seen those piccies before, but not seen a car with them on.

Have to say, when I finally find myself with the Le Mans weekend free and go, I'll certainly be fitting those to my S2. They look the business!

Oli.

I'm surprised Rick Cannell has not been on offering his services YET

Behave, Dougie [:D]

Been trying to work out what the 928S3 decal as supplied on the original car was ?

Was that the Nitrous special ?? [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

I'm just staying on the right side of the moderators ... wonderful people that they are.

Stripes you either love or hate. All down to personal preference.

Wow the Gulf Racing colours look good on 944s my car goes in for full respray next week maybe I've still got time to change my mind[;)]

I think this is a good reference link for MANY different looks for our cars. Somewhere in the soon to be 100!! pages of 944s will be the combination you've always wondered about. Check it out. In reference to stripes there are some quite nice ones amongst the fuglys.

Is it wrong to like the walnut effect dash inserts on the first page? I really like that and have had other middle aged 'tingles' over the last few months (34 and a half years old)

Yes it is PSI ~ wood dash inserts have put me off countless cars over the years. Wrong diddly wrongly wrong.
