Sudden loss of oil pressure...

Ive ordered the flywheel locking tool from my local dealership, and will be attempting that next.
Failing that, I will overfill her and limp her back to my workshop and start pulling things off to find the real issue.
Really appreciate your help with all of this guys, thanks.

To cut a very very long story short... we tried all of the easier options, ie PRV, crank bolt, new oil filter, priming oil filter and galleries etc to no avail. I really did not want to drop the sump, and since it had been perfect until left overnight I was sure that the cracked pickup seemed unlikely.
We decided that since the gallery running down the side of the engine is so long, and since we had done such extensive works there was a slim chance that the pump had lost prime. Slim yes, but worth a shot. We turned up a boss to fit in the dipstick hole with an O-Ring and an airline fitting, and clamped off the breather pipes, removed the plugs, and took out the DME. Whilst applying 30 psi to the airline/dipstick we cranked her over. First time we looked miserable as sin as the reality of sump removal looked inevitable, but we persisted stubbornly and sure enough, she started to build pressure on the gauge.
Once at normal pressure, we connected everything back up, and trial started her, she now purrs happily!
Ive since put about 1500 miles on her, and have to say the work we have done has transformed her. I had to remove the rear coils from the SPAX shocks as even after dialling in the rear torsion bars she was too heavily sprung and didnt like anything bumpy mid corner. Since that I have just had smiles.
Next project is sorting the lights. Then potentially a set of Brembos, and maybe even new wheels?!? Not sure at the moment but aesthetically the rear looks a little ’narrow’. Lots to do but at least I can enjoy her now.

i was actually going to sugest trying to put some compressed air down the dipstick as I’ve seen eldres on fCebook do this to a 944 with no oil preasure before but hoped that one of the things we suggested would have sorted it , but main thing is it seems to have done the trick so happy days!!??????
i have an 86 lux and other month after leaving it parked up after a drive it now has no oil pressure and oil light stays on
to date i have checked the switch took off and cranked over to see if oil came out none came out bought a oil pressure tester but found i dident have a fitting so used my old compression tester
put poss 4/5 ltr of oil in extra still nothing
today with help of wife put air line on dipstick tube and got her to crank it over still nothing took off oil filter and looked to see if oil came out anywhere just a tiny dribble poss half a tea spoon
also during the course of last couple of months took of oil filter put oil down outer hole and tried that and no joy there
i haven tried the crank bolt as yet as i dident think it would be that having owned it for over pos 6 years now
i did post on tipec forum and was told to try in here which i have used in past
any help or ideas greatly received

Ironically its been parked up for 2 months again and exactly the same thing has happened, I need to redo the above before I get it back on the road!

i only put rag in the main pipe in the rubber boot for air flow but it was enough to blow air out of dipstick when i pulled off my air rubber bung
she did say whats the oil light for (she said same thing when she loaned my ford when we were courting and gave it me back with light on )
the oil pressure gauge went up when i took wire off other week trying to diagnose as opposed to buying parts and just fitting them

I found priming the oil pump to be a complete pain... I finally managed it by using a vacuum pump on the fuel pressure sensor port to draw oil through the pump.
I've just re-read this - it makes no sense at all, sorry..
It was the OPRV port I think..which would make more sense as this comes after the oil pump
