We have arranged a Summer Drive and Dine to the Mill House Hotel at Kingham on Sunday 31st August. At £14.95 a head for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 courses, their succulent Sunday roasts are brilliant value. If you're tempted by a drive through the Cotswold countryside followed by a Sunday roast please let us know by Sunday 24th August so we can reserve places for you.

Hi Alan Dawn and I will be happy to have a drive around the Cotswolds followed by Sunday lunch at Kingham. Put us on your list, thanks.

The list so far... Dawn & Steve Alison & Stephen Su & Derek Fiona & Alan Graham Kirk +1 We were thinking of assembling at 11:00 possibly at Burford, but open to suggestions, route yet to be decided (but will do our best to avoid Alex James' and Jamie Oliver's Feastival). FYI, we've told the Mill House Hotel we'll be arriving between 12:00 and 12:30. Alan & Fiona

A bit further down the road, but why not assemble at 10:00 at Bibury Court Hotel for coffee. Great place for pics early morning, then start the drive from there. Good roads up to Burford.

Dawn and I would prefer the later 11am. I have also seen some poor reviews of the Bibury Court including on TripAdvisor someone who couldn't get a coffee at 11am! I'll throw my idea in. How about a meet at The Cotswold Gateway Hotel in Burford at 11am for coffee. Its a nice place and at that time in the morning there shouldn't be a parking problem. Although when approx numbers are known it might be best to contact the proprietor in advance to make sure its okay for all of us to descend on them for drinks, as they will be preparing for their sunday lunch trade. Its nicely positioned at the roundabout so afterwards we could go west on the A40 and down through the Barringtons, through Bourton on the Water and possibly on to the slaughters and up to Stow, curving back to Kingham. 1+ hours of driving time stopping where we fancy. Just an idea......

I have had no problems with Bibury Court at all. Been there personally many times and thus possibly have a more current view than Trip Advisor. However, naturally we should make sure that we could be entertained. Whatever, it is a good spot. As for the Cotswold Gateway, with respect, it is not in the same league. A nondescript hotel on a busy trunk route full of commercial travellers. Definitely not a good place to park our Porsches.

Alison & Stephen and Graham will be coming down from the North of the Region, so the Cotswold Gateway Hotel in Burford at 11am and the route suggested by Steve and Dawn works best for the majority. Commercial travellers usually spend Sunday mornings cleaning their Ford Cortinas at home so there's no need for concern [;)] Alan & Fiona

Thought I'd better mention this. Probably be okay but just noticed that there is a large music/food festival on at Kingham over that weekend, including the Sunday. Gates open 10am for day visitors and live acts (including Jamie Cullum) start at 12 noon. I presume people will be in by the time we arrive but does anyone know better? http://www.jamieoliver.com/thebigfeastival/feastival-info/opening-hours-key-timings/

If you look, it is actually some distance from the village, but those coming from the south might prefer to adjust their route.

The organisers of the 3-day festival are expecting peak traffic volume at the site on Sunday between 08:30 and 10:30. As Steve says, the live acts start at midday on the Sunday, so if we plan our route so that we arrive between 12:00 and 12:30 probably coming in from the Cornwell / Daylesford direction we will hopefully avoid the worst. As the festival will be in full swing late in the afternoon and doesn't finish until 22:00, leaving should be less of an issue. Maybe we do a Drive 'n Dine n' Dance at the Feastival next year? [;)]

Update for the Region's Summer Drive and Dine (Sunday 31st August) The list of Drivers and Diners so far... Dawn & Steve Alison & Stephen Su & Derek Fiona & Alan Graham Kirk Neale Alison & Ian (TBC) We are assembling at 10:00 - 10:30 on Sunday 31st August at the [link=http://www.cotswold-gateway.co.uk/]Cotswold Gateway Hotel, Burford[/link] for coffee. We will be leaving around 11:00 to drive en masse to Kingham. Alison Drummond has volunteered to devise the route. We'll be arriving at the Mill House Hotel around midday for lunch. There's still time to book! Let us know asap if you want to come. Alan & Fiona

Alan, Can I suggest that you remind chaps when as I had to go back to the start of the thread to remind myself of the date!

Alan, you have on your list Kirk +1. Unfortunately my wife has decided not to attend as a "commercial traveller" she may feel unwelcome by some other attendees. Please amend the reservation for the meal accordingly. Thanks, Kirk
