Hi people

A date for the diary - You are all very welcome to attend the Porsche-nic Annual BBQ and fun event this year to be held @ Emberton Country park nr. Olney (Bucks) on Sunday 13th of July.

http://www.embertonvillage.com/

We' re making this up as we go along, but basic format proposed is :-

Arrive @ 3pm with an outdoor game or 2 plus, your childish sense of humour !
We' ll fire up the BBQ from 5pm for a " Flop your Chop" - i.e bring your own BBQ stuff, and someone (i.e me / someone) will incinerate it to perfection,
The park clearly thinks this is such a special event so they are going to promote it locally, and asked if we minded the public looking round our cars - As if we ever need an excuse to prune our feathers !

So, call it a pre-concours " wash and show" (except Edward who will no doubt spray his fingernails in Guards red to match the car...)

I' m trying to organise for a professional car wax company to be there, for a demo on Mad Yank Mike the Flatnose and in all seriousness, I' m thinking of asking Edward and Roger Atherton to give us a quick overview of how they keep their cars " best in region..." - of course, if you have ideas, most welcome to share them

So, once again. Children welcome - plenty of grass for them to play . How about:-
Rounders ?
Boules ?
Dinghy
Lawn Darts
etc....

Looking for support, and ideas, and of course feedback. Cheers Mike (Pink) for taking the personal time to sort this out with the mgt @ Emberton..

Cheers

STEVE

Brian - one for the next edition of the NL ?

More details on the event on Sunday July 13th

1) Entrance for Porsche cars is free - other cars pay £3
2) Wax company INCERO is scheduled to have small stand there to give tips / hints / demo' s on their products.
3) DT Concours (another wax company) has signaled interest in attending.
4) This is primarily a family day so any old garden games would be great but at least how about a 4pm " men vs women" ROUNDERS game. ? --- bets taken now

all the best

Gary suggested getting a bouncy castle, or do you think there will be enough entertainment for the kids?

Gary suggested getting a bouncy castle, or do you think there will be enough entertainment for the kids?

A good suggestion, but In my view the park is fairly well equipped with children' s swings/slides, etc. Our site will be near these.

Also, the " park" is open to the public, so we would have real difficulty stopping non-members (ie boisterous kids) getting on a bouncy castle - then there' s the cost and insurance risk (the park may even have a policy on this).

On a separate point, the park does have water - lakes- so small children will need minding.

Let' s hope for good weather - we have been offered a quick-assembly gazebo to supplement the regional one if it is showery.

We' ll be there, kids with bikes + dog + BBQ + car, providing weather OK.

Emberton' s a lovely park. Loads of space. Don' t get hung up on the bouncy castle -there are loads of playgrounds and space for football/rounders/chess etc.,

Melv

We' ll be there too. Both cars and both children. I' m really interested to see some of this Incero stuff

At last, a local region event on a day I am not working [:D]

Melv - can I count on you to " man" one of the BBQ' s ? - I' ve offered to bring my Weber so can be on frazzle duty, if you take yours, then this would be great. I' m looking for a 5pm fire up with nosh @ 6pm latest .

Appreciate support

Steve

Note to Mike - I think (from experience) one BBQ / 10 people is about the right ratio. We ought to have a veggie grill for those people who don' t want to mix dead animal cooking with dead plants.

Karen and I plan to be there. We may have 1,2 or maybe even 3 kids depending on there hectic social calenders.

Andy

How about getting someone along to discuss radar detectors as well, unless you have already considered scheduling this on a future monthly meeting?

[:)]Hi Guys,
Count me in. Sounds like a great day, as long as the weather holds out.
Hopefully Karen will be off and will come along.
See you all soon[:D]

Indeed Webers are heavy... I' ll just have to remove the roof to compensate. Carrera Club Sport " cabrio" coming right up sir.

Rgds

PS:- A Porsche is meant to Pampered, Nursed, Zymoled and then tootled along the road so that all the nasty summer bugs don' t touch the windows. None of this " thrashed to within an inch of it' s life" stuff.... Ferry (Cross the Mersey)

Definite yes at the moment -quite happy for some to use BBQ, but they cook their own!!!

BBQ' s OK there, have done it b4, as long as they are on stands and don' t scorch the grass!!

Melv

Definite yes from the Smith family too. We have a small portable BBQ that anyone is welcome to ' flop your chop' on (once we' ve finished of course [;)] )

Steve

The Park has confirmed BBQ' s are okay - just keep them off the ground. They also said that they intend to give a bit of publicity to our meeting on the Sunday to get extra punters into the park - so we have to accept that visitors will want to look round. I' m sure most owners welcome this.

Mike, Steve,

Count us in on the Emberton Park event too. Looking forward to making new friends[:)] May turn up in the 3.2 Sport Coupe and possibly in the 964 - if I can encourage mywife Anthea to drive one of them!

See you all then.[8|]

Will be pitching up b4 lunch Sunday -any other ' early' starters?

Has an area been designated and will the park staff know?

Thanx

[:(]Thought I' d better just inform you all that even though the Spyder (REPLICA - see general discussion board!!!!) is up and running again, I won' t be able to make it. Unfortunatly, it' s also the British Moto GP at Donington Park on Sunday, so I' ll be over there instead. I will maek it to an event in the Spyder (REPLICA) some time this summer I' m sure!

Oh, I won' t even make it to the Street Cocours in August, as I' ll be on holiday in Malta!

Sometime, honest!

Mark.
