Yes, I know, I should just leave it alone..... but i had to have another play with the sunroof this weekend. What a pickle I got in !!!
To recap - I have a motor that doesn't fit properly, but was sufficiently good to be able to open the roof (manually) whilst I fiddled around. Ever since then it hasn't sealed, so I was left with a car that still didn't have a working sunroof AND it leaked, which it never did before. Progress, eh [

So, since then I've been dabbling. Pulled the roof out a week ago to try and get it to seal better - no joy. Nice and sunny on Sunday, so let's have another look. When I tried to open it all that happened was that the outer cable (which has joint about 3-4" away from the motor) just destroyed the joint and jacked itself apart. So rather than pushing the roof open, the action of winding the motor was to jack apart the outer cable. Can you picture it ?
Eventually I managed to remove the roof panel, and then half the trim to try and get the 'pushy-up arms' extended. Now I can extend/retract the arms and have taken the roof panel out. I've ordered new seals and am looking at having the panel resprayed. I suspect all I'm going to end up with is a non-working roof, albeit dry (which has to be a result I guess) and in better condition
Just needed to share that with you all. I feel better now.
