Sunroof...

Yes, my sunroof is playing up... []
I had the roof out with the recent good weather, but when I went to put it back in, it wouldn' t lock shut. Key to position 1, sunroof in place, nothing happens when I press the switch.

However, if I lift the sunroof out, key to position 1, press the switch, both lifting arms come out to the ' lock' position, they just won' t do it when the sunroof is there!

Anyone know what this is likely to be?

Alan, there is a microswitch under a triangular plate between the sunvisors, just in front of the sunroof that detects if the sunroof is in place or not. It sounds like that switch may be out of alignment or duff.

I think you' ve hit the nail on the head there Paul. After further in-depth technical investigation of said microswitch (poking at it with a screwdriver), the sunroof started working, so it looks like the switch is on it' s last legs. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction [:)]

I sprayed (soaked) mine with contact cleaner (from Maplins), and exercised the switch a number of times, its worked fine since so that might be worth a try.

That website helped me alot too, so thanks. My problem was that the sunroof would not lock closed. It would appear to be fully down but when I zoomed along the A303 as is my want the speed would lift the roof up - well scary.

So ta very much, chaps [;)]
