Super Unleaded & Tesco 99 Ron

ORIGINAL: daro911

The "˜handmade' BP Ultimate 102 Unleaded's formulation meets exactly the same specifications used in Formula 1 and the World Rally Championships, according to BP,

Not difficult - considering thst the regulations for F1 and WRC fuels state that they must meet the same specs as Pump Fuel (although how they are composed to make them meet that spec is not well defined).

i find both my 911 and 924 run much better on super unleaded and return slightly better mpg as well. But they can both empty a tank very quickly if you start putting your foot down[8D] not that i do you understand.

So popular they are having to increase supply to meet demand, so whens the price going to drop ??

You need a modified ECU map to run 102 octane - unless you have a highly tuned car you are wasting your time. If you get a remap, and then can only obtain 95ron fuel whilst out on a long journey how do you manage ?

Around the same time Porsche drops the price of the Boxster Coupe to that of the Roadster [;)]:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

My local resonably priced Shell outfit had V Power tonight at 99.9p a litre and standard brew at 92.9p so price difference from them has risen by 1p per litre over the old Optimax [&o]

If you care about your car, then Shell V-Power is the fuel for you - it's Shell's newly formulated differentiated fuel which replaces Shell Optimax.

In developing Shell V-Power we have built on the highly successful performance platform achieved with Shell Optimax. Shell V-Power is designed to provide even higher levels of performance and bring drivers further enhancements in responsiveness. The improved formulation features higher octane (99 RON), higher detergency and use of Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology, as used by the Ferrari Formula One team in its 2006 Race fuels.

So if you're looking for a fuel designed to get performance from your engine and to help give you improvements in responsiveness, try Shell V-Power next time you fill up.

Clean your engine as you drive

Shell V-Power is designed to improve the performance of your engine by helping to remove power-robbing deposits. By cleaning the engine, the fuel can burn more effectively enabling the engine to run more smoothly. It also contains Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology (FMT), as used by Ferrari in Formula One. Reducing friction inside your engine helps your car run more efficiently, which is one of the reasons why Shell V-Power can begin to improve your vehicle's responsiveness from the moment you use it. Just thought I would update people on my fuel findings. We took delivery of a BMW 318i M Sport 2 weeks ago and because the car was tight in the engine dept as well as a bit underpowered I tried various fuels. Tesco 99 Ron didn't appear to have any effect on the cars consumption or performance. Then I put a tank of V-Power in it and oh my goodness. Fuel Consumption was improved as was the responsiveness.

So today I have filled the Boxster with the same fuel. The Boxster has now done 4,500 miles and is already much more responsive than when I bought the car. Anyway the first noticeable improvement is the avg fuel consumption is now 31 up from 27.2. Secondly the car is much more responsive in the lower gears.

So despite my remarks about Optimax, I am happy to admit I am a convert to V-Power and can't recommend it enough. The only downside is the smell of the stuff when you fill the tank.

[FONT=Verdana"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]An update to my orginal post and to back up the theory about turbocharged cars - my wife has just taken delivery of a new Focus ST (yes, the ASBO), which is turbocharged. There is a VERY noticable increase in performance when the car is filled with any of the super unleaded varieties. However I doubt the performance increases of the new BP fuels are going to warrant the £2.42 per litre cost ...[&:]
