Suspension Options

Hi All,

I have spoken to my local OPC regarding fitting the M030 sports suspension kit with new top mounts as per Richard's suggestion and found these items on the quotation which seem rather expensive - is the A04 supporting mount required when replacing the top mounts?

P996.343.016.04 A04 SUPPORTING MOUN *2
P996.343.015.04 A04 SUPPORTING MOUN *2
P996.333.069.04 N/STK STABLISER MOU *4

Can anyone suggest if the following items should be replaced during M030 suspension kit /full geo fitting: or if I have missed something?

replace top mountings - front and rear*2
lower wishbones - Wishbone Ball Joint *4 (if worn - at least one of mine is according to last service)
Anti-Roll Bar Drop Link Front/Rear
Various bushes/bits - Any advice?

Thanks,

Steve

I thought the kit came with new front and rear anti roll bars or are they different to what you mean?

Edit, i recently had my car geo'd at centre gravity and they charge £300, however he noticed that the bushes on the track control arms (all 4) had seperated and become bearings and my inner track rod ends needed changing so be warning it can get expensive(not a dig at chris he did a brilliant job its just the final bill was about 5 times more than i expected[:(]).

The kit does come with anti roll bars, but instead of replacing rubber mounts, Porsche seem to be indicating changing entire top brackets - just wondering if this is neccessary or if rubber mounts can be changed by themselves or do they come pre-fitted in top mounts?

Thanks,

I guess you must have a C4 from those part numbers. The top mounts are all-in-one, and the rubber is bonded in, so not available separately. They are much more expensive for the C4 compared to the C2 (£151 vs £49). The rear top mounts don't seem to suffer as badly as the fronts, so I think it unlikely you would need those.

The "stabilser mount" (anti-roll bar bushes) should come with the kit, as they are a different size to standard.

If you are getting someone else to fit it, then you might as well wait to see the condition of the mounts, etc, when they come off, and just replace the parts which look suspect. Even if you are doing it yourself (and don't need the car) then it would be the best way to do it. As the old adage goes "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it".

I'm still trying to decide on what to do here, I can not obtain the part no's from my original suspension, and the springs / shocks having multiple dots on each, the most common however being orange.

The shocks look in very good condition, but I'm now thinking about having the car 30mm lower, however I do not know if the mo30 shocks will be the correct length for this. Also I have heard rumours about the C2 shell not being suitable (I have also read many owners dropping the ride height by 30mm and having no issues).

Will a 30mm drop in wide height be ok? Comfort is not an issue seeing as this is only a car that I use on the odd weekend.

Hi,

I fitted the MO30 kit to my c4 a few months back after much deliberation. I had one leaking rear shock and this was the most cost effective solution. The top mounts were split when I got the front struts apart (97000 miles) so I ordered and replaced both. The kit comes with roll bar bushes etc therefore I did not need anything else. I was worried that the ride would be too hard but to be honest I have not found the harshness much different but the overall handling and tightness was greatly improved.

I would recommend this route, its relatively cheap, easy to fit and makes a massive improvemewnt to the handling.

Hope this info helps

Theres quite a few websites ive seen that sell a large amount of parts. Of the top of my head i can think of design911, type911shop and porscheshop. Feel free to delete these if im not allowed to post website. The design911 website lets you select your model and year which is quite good.

Hi.

I have now received my M030 suspension kit and have been through all the parts.

The kit includes 4 anti roll bar black bushes but only 2 of the orange moulded silicone suspension top - 996.533.10503

Is this correct that 2 are supplied with the kit or should it come with 4 of them?

I am also considered replacing delaminated bushes with poly ones to sharpen up the steering rather than replace entire lower wishbones as suggested by OPC. Does anyone have any experience of running M030 with poly bushes in terms of handling/ride quality?

Thanks, Steve
